The art works in the palace is good and has a great history behind. However, the place is poorly maintained, even with a entry fee of ₹50. There is a library, art gallery and the main palace. But i was totally disappointed in seeing the main palace. The wall artworks are washed off, the floors is dusty, the pillars and walls are damaged by people visiting it. It might take around 2-3 hours to cover the entire place, which is totally not worth the time. Better spend time at some other place like the big temple instead.

I would not say, this is a great palace but the Saraswathy Mahal Library, within the palace complex is a worth visit. Its not a massive library but the collections are worth your time. I missed the audio visual museum. I feel, visitors should be more responsible as you can see lots of scribbling on the pillars of durbar hall. Definitely from palace management team, the whole place need an upliftment, still I will recommend to visit this palace.

One of the worst maintained place I ever visited in my life. How could they do like that. If it is maintained properly it will attract many tourists. I felt so bad seeing the condition of the palace.if you want to explore a new place you can visit the palace. And if you expect more there is nothing. You need to take tickets to enter each section. This palace authorities must visit mysore palace at least once and need to learn from them how to protect these monuments. The surroundings are not clean. So i will not recommend this place to anyone.

The worst heritage monument I've ever visited. It pains me to see a beautiful relic of our past in such a poor state. I'd identify the following reasons for the decay.
1) Disorganised arrangements -ex: The entry kiosk is a mess and only accepts cash. Entry to every part of the complex is haphazardly controlled. Vehicles are parked randomly inside the monument. Walking paths are broken and unkept. There are no information tablets or any explanation of the history anywhere.
2) Lack of cleanliness - it's filthy everywhere with garbage cans overflowing and a general apathy towards cleanliness.
3) Poor preservation - Either most of the heritage is not preserved properly or they've ruined it with senseless construction (using modern materials) in the name of restoration. Ex: Durbar hall has beautiful mosaics and paintings which are peeling off. There are stone sculptures randomly strewn across nearby. In the arsenal tower, old paintings seem to be painted over in white. Art gallery exhibition hall has a glass facade! There are granite flooring randomly in between. Same thing with cement plastering.

Photos attached to make my point. I hope the management and the junior engineer of conservation of the archaeological department (with an office there) get to see this review. I would be ashamed if I were either one of you because you're ruining a national treasure.

It’s a great place to visit, you’ll need 3-4 hrs minimum to have a complete round. Plan the audio visual museum properly it’s played in particular time like sessions.
To know the history of the place and also everything about Tanjore…

In general it is a great place to visit with a lot to see. Its really amazing. The only negative point is that currently there seems to be some constructions and tools were kept on statues and it was kept untidy. There is so much great artwork, it should be cherished more.
Also it would be great to have more opportunities for elderly people to sit.

Nice historical palace in the middle of the city. Unfortunately it is not well kept though there is a high entrance fee (Adults 50, Kids 20) apart from 2 seperate entrance fees you need to pay inside.
There is lot of dust everywhere and some construction going on at places.
Parking can be a challenge though it has some limited paid parking inside. The lady issuing parking ticket is also very rude.
The store inside the palace is very nice and prices very reasonable (just watch out for additional GST apart from the price mentioned on the objects).
