Historic place…nice small trek…view from the top of the fort is awesome…
Start early in the morning so that you can complete the trek before noon…Carry water n fluids with you as nothing will be available inside…also beware of monkeys…they are notorious

Gingee Fort or Senji Fort (also known as Chenji, Chanchi, Jinji or Senchi) in Tamil Nadu, India is one of the surviving forts in Tamil Nadu, India. It lies in Villupuram District, 160 kilometres (99 mi) from the state capital, Chennai, and is close to the Union Territory of Puducherry. The site is so fortified that Chhatrapati Shivaji, the Maratha king, ranked it as the "most impregnable fortress in India", and it was called the "Troy of the East" by the British. The nearest town with a railway station is Tindivanam and the nearest airport is Chennai (Madras), located 150 kilometres (93 mi) away.and fort outdoors was avaible in shob you bring water bottlers and like somethings , avaible in rent two wheeler and four wheeler parking, and covid-19 temporarily now online booking going on 25 rupees , other contrie was 300 rupees something pay , monkeys on forced missuse your things so safe your bag and another things.

It is an excellent historical site to explore . Also an ideal place for hiking . The visit should be clubbed with Ranigiri palace and Pattabhirama temple. The entry time is between 9 am and 3pm. Advance booking is mandatory or you can buy ticket online on spot after sign in to official website of ASI. Take enough water before hiking to the Rajagiri palace. Dont try hiking to the mountain if you are physically not fit , but good to visit the monuments in the foothills.

One of the historical sites which is preserved well. It's a trekking spot. People who can trek will like this place more and the trek is moderate to difficult which requires more than half the day to complete the whole sightseeing of fort. For those who cannot trek, just visit till base of fort which also has many structures to see with rich history behind each structure. A great place for photography, Ariel videos and to admire the historic structures and the associated stories.

I have visited this fort in October month. It's a good treck for 2 hours in general. It's amazing to see the engineering knowledge which was prevailed centuries ago. When rest of the world was struggling for earn life, our ancestors created such so many marvels which few nefarious tried to destroy it. The good thing whats we saw is Digital entry passes from Archeological Survey of India, appreciable. 20Rs. Per person but completely online. There are few guards who try to maintain the decorum but in my view should be increased.
Most important thing is, we can not enter after 15.00 hrs. So need to careful about this if someone wants to go uphill. View from the uphill is mesmerising and can't put in words. Uphill there are few ruins of palace, few rooms and so on. There are lot of monkeys and can cause trouble if they find food items. Need to be cautious.
In general we should visit this place and go uphill to see the beauty Surrounding.

Got to visit by noon. They won't allow you to the higher decks after 3pm even if you're late by 5mins

Other than that the place is a perfect weekend getaway for family from Chennai.

Monkeys aren't aggressive but if try to park your vehicle under the sun/outside and not near trees, else they'll scratch your vehicle

Much improved and well maintained by Archeological department. Digital payments for entry ticket is provided. But signal quality were not good at that place, That's need to be addressed.

Loved a lot with my kids and Yoga friends... its first time with my kids eventhough its my hometown... enjoyed the scenic views and history of this fort... Great architecture built 800years ago... Need to improve lot of infrastructure facilities like transportation, security, and cleanliness...
Great efforts by all and Kudos to my lovable kids for memorable journey.
