Amberkhana is the former Balekilla. It is surrounded by a moat. There are three granaries here namely Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. It contained about 25,000 pieces of grains such as sorghum, nagli and paddy. In addition, there were government bins, ammunition depots, and a mint. You'll must visit this Marvelous structure

It's the best work in Bijapuri style of architecture. They enabled Shivaji Maharaj to withstand a 5 month siege by Siddhi Johar. Rice, nachni and warai were the major provisions stored. Stairs on both sides lead the top of the buildings. It has sixteen bays each with its own flat vault with a hole on top through which grain used to be passed. Just loved this place it is well maintained and kept clean. Must visit place.

Very rock solid construction ! Here is more information from nativeplanet.com The Fort of Ambarkhana is a must visit while you visit Panhala. The fort was built under the Marathas and stands strong and tall even to this day. The administrative division and the palace – Mint – were accommodated in this fort.
The nearby age old building called Dhanyancha Kothar was used to pile and store food grains. There are three granaries in all, namely the Ganga, Jamuna and Saraswati. Each of them could store up to 25,000 khandis of grain.

The Amberkhana, situated in the center of the fort, were three granaries built in the Bijapuri style of architecture. They enabled Shivaji to withstand a 5-month siege by Siddhi Johar.[21] It consists of three buildings called the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati Kothis. The Ganga kothi, which was the largest, had a capacity of 25,000 khandis[23] (with one khandi being 650 lbs). It covers an area of 950 sq m and is 10.5 m high.[24] Rice, nachni and warai were the major provisions stored.[19] Stairs on both sides lead the top of the buildings. It has sixteen bays each with its own flat vault with a hole on top through which grain used to be passed.[3] The eastern entrance has a domed chamber with a balcony and plasterwork of the Bijapuri style.[25]

This place is at the centre of the fort. Three large godowns made by maratha Empire to store grains. These structures are very elegant architecture and surrounded by trees and beautiful nature. One of the must visit place on the Panhala fort.

The structure is fully intact. You will love this place if you are interested in Maharashtra history. There is not much to see on the inside of the Ambarkhana (warehouse) but one should always take a look back at the history of how and for what purpose these structures were built.
