West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, Mohanpur campus

This place for learning is actually the Under-Graduate (UG) campus of Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences under West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences. Faculty of Dairy Technology is also situated in the same campus being physically separated by a small lake. This place is well known for a Veterinary treatment where you may treat your animals (10 am to 5 pm). A model dairy farm and poultry farm is also there.

West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences (formerly Bengal Veterinary College). Its Mohanpur Campus is full of greenery basically in rural areas (at present under Haringhata Municipality). It is very nearer to age old Haringhata Farm. At present the undergraduate veterinary education (BVSc&AH) is offered in this campus.
It is located on the main road connecting Kalyani-Barrackpore Express way (Kanchrapara- Kampa More) and National Highway No 34 (Bara Jaguly).

It was really nice.very helpful faculty.treatment for mouse is difficult to get.but treatment otherwise was very good.i got my cat spayed here.the treatment was successful and the care taken was really good.

Very well mainatined and neat campus and the faculties of this universities are excellent as well. The hostels are not that good but its quite livable. Since i was studying in this university in B.V.Sc & A.H course i must say the campus is very ecofriendly and greenery resides in every corner of the campus. The only one problem i have qith this place is you have to walk a lot to buy daily necessities if you dont have a bicycle since the campus is really big. It loterally takes 20 min to leave the hostel and then finally reach the main gate, also the food available inside the campus is not upto the mark. Other than these i love this place.

West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences was established on 2nd January, 1995 vide West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences Act – 1995 to impart education, training and to conduct research in veterinary and animal sciences, dairy sciences and fishery sciences and also to cater the needs of the farming community of the State of West Bengal. During this period the University has been recognized as one of the leading institutions of the country to uplift the socio-economical status of farmers. The hallmark of the University has been the development of human resources to meet the requirements of the society and to promote the socio-economic development of the region.The University has been engaged in commendable task of improving the research infrastructure to develop cutting edge technologies for improved management of animal and fishery resources, disease problems, nutrients, water resources and environment. Significant achievement has been made to improve the research activities with the funds made available from State and Central Governments and non-government organizations. There are three faculties in this University viz. (1) Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (B.V.Sc. & AH, M.V.Sc. & Ph.D. courses) (2) Faculty of Dairy Technology (B.Tech.(DT), M.Tech. (DT) and M.Sc. (Dairying) and Ph.D. courses) and (3) Faculty of Fishery Sciences (B.F.Sc., M.F.Sc.  and Ph.D. courses). The research, extension and farm activities of the University are organized through the Directorate of Research, Extension & Farms of the University. Various research programmes have been running since 1995 under the aegis of the said Directorate.

One of the most important educational institutions of West Bengal. Deals with different aspects of animal sciences and fishery. The campus is well maintained.

Two years ago I went with a stray dog, one doctor treated him extremely well. He was old and experienced and kind. He lent money to the people who couldn't afford surgery. And previous year I went with a pup they didnt tell us what to give them to eat or even give them anything at all or not. And this year pathetic even the doc was having his students for case study who absolutely knew nothing they didn't even tell us voluntarily what to give them in food for parvo patients. How we are to know they are not to be fed with water? Not any do's and don'ts.
