Pros: The location is really awesome, surrounded by beautiful mountains, also gives a mesmerizing view of Kanchenjunga. It's little far from Darjeeling main city, hence not a noisy or busy roads. Help you to connect the nature and experience serenity. Staff was polite and well mannered.
Cons: Although hotel was neat and clean, the lift was dirty for all three days. Staircase area of second floor is used as a storeroom, which is first thing you see when you come out of lift.
As hotel is little far from main city there is no other option of restaurant than sterling's inhouse restaurant. Food was good, just little expensive. The restaurant was understaffed.

The location of this hotel is away from the main road, a very bumpy ride to it. Not a hotel with the expectations of its name, Sterling. Where do I start? Clogged bathrooms, musky smelling towels, average food taste etc. I have to admit some staff are really friendly and give their best in service. The buffet served had a good variety- but as soon as a group of Indian tourists came in, it was like everyone for themselves.....as if starved for a week and swarmed like bees around what was served. Many even started eating just next to the served food! To add on that, they used their stained hands for eating to pick up from the buffet like it was the most natural thing to do! Perhaps they're afraid that all the food will be depleted and they'll go hungry. There's no manners at all. No excuse me. Not queuing up, no using utensils to take food, no courtesy to allow women or kids to have their meal first, it's just barbaric! Something that is a norm perhaps in India. ....
Anyway, the facilities were just adequate in this hotel. There's an electric heater for your usage if it gets too cold at night.
There's a recreational room with table tennis tables, foosball, board games and books in case you run out of ideas on what to do here.
Perhaps I'll try a different hotel next trip.

Awesome hotel. The view from the hotel is to die for. The service is good. The staff is courteous. The food can be better.
What they dont do good on is the location itself. It is built a km inside from the main road of ghoom. The road is extremely narrow and is in a bad condition. Seems like it hasn't been repairer since ages. Also, ghoom itself is located 7 kms from the main town. Getting a vehicle from the hotel to Darjeeling is an issue and if you get one they'll charge you approx 1200 for city drop and pickup.

The property is really very good, the 4 things we always look into for any bookings, like

1. Location - 4.5/5. Beautiful location, great connectivity, but the approaching road is bit challenging.

2. Property - 4.5/5. No doubt one of the best property in Darjeeling, spacious and the best part is it has designated point for Kanchenjunga view.

3. Staff - 5/5. All staffs starting from the Reception to Housekeeping each and everyone one is very helpful and cooperative.

4. Food - 4.5/5. Taste is really good, be it Indian or continental. One drawback for South India taste which can be improved but overall we enjoyed.

The best resort in Darjeeling. Huge area housing different types of rooms. Has a children's play area, Kanchenjunga view point, games room etc. Rooms are equipped with all the best amenities. Staff is extremely helpful and courteous. I strongly recommend this place

Location is away from the market, surrounded by beautiful view of valleys, nature. Staff service is fine and food is good. We opted for buffet for breakfast. Mt. Kangchenjunga peak can be viewed from the resort.

This is a place situated at one of the most beautiful location of darjeeling. I have travelled this entire stretch for past few years and the view that one get from this hotel is breath taking. We stumbled upon this place during one of our road trips in august this year. After that we came again to stay here in December. All because of the view and the point where this hotel is. If left on the staff here this place would have surely closed down years back. It's not that the staff misbehaves with you or are rude, they are just indifferent to the guests. They give an impression that serving their guests is beneath them. And I am talking about ALL of the staff- at reception, room service, restaurant everywhere. To give few examples- Noone will ask you for anything at restaurant till you shout or call someone, they will be right there standing and staring. Once you finish food they will just pick up your plates with no permission or not even a smile. If someone rings a bell from room service and you don't run and come to open the door, they will leave - in less than 2 mts. It looked very clearly that the management is not visiting or auditing this place at all. It's just run by people who hate their jobs (maybe). But the view in the mornings and the scene of the stars at night brought us back here twice. Plus at times it's easier to stay at this place and visit darjeeling then going n staying there.

The property is maintained in an impeccable manner. The staffs are very courteous and the hospitality is top notch. The resort has a view point of the kanchenjunga peak and it is one of the striking features of this place. Their buffet spread for the complimentary breakfast is sumptuous. Totally worth the money being spent there.
The only negative aspect of this property is it's location. The road which leads to the property is too narrow and maneuvering two cars at a time is literally a nightmare.
