The statue is not looked after well. It is cleaned on Jayantis and festivals. At other times a thick layer of dust can be seen on the smarak. Constructed in the memory of first Indian freedom fighter "Mangal Pandey", the statue is a symbol of glory of the Ballia city.

It's a historical place in Ballia. This place is named after a renowned freedom fighter mangal Pandey who sparked off the revolt of 1857 some of historians also call it as first war of independence.
