This faculty is meant for studying BVSc & AH. This is a 5 year course including 1 year internship (as per MSVE 2016). It is the only place in the state of West Bengal to build your carrear as a Veterinarian. There are approx 17 full fledged Departments under this faculty. It's a great campus with huge space and well maintained. There are separate farms for Sheep & Goat, Cattle, Poultry and Pig. Veterinary Hospital/ Clinics is also within this faculty to treat the ailing animals. Students accross the state and country used to come here to study.

The West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences was established on 2 January 1995 by a Legislative Act (West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Science Act-VI,1995). Before this, veterinary education in the state was imparted by Bengal Veterinary College, a premier institution of the country which was established in 1893. It was the second oldest veterinary college in the country and the college was expanded, enriched and functioned under the University of Calcutta until 1974. In 1974, the college was merged with Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya in Mohanpur, district Nadia, as the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
