A very beautiful place to visit for boating in serene atmosphere. A short walk takes you to breath taking Pykara water falls. A lovely place to visit

The dam is out of bounds for general public. The lake is used for boating and other paid TTDC activities. Access road to dam backwaters is via a 1 km. Downhill walk from main road. Caution, parking on road is very limited and virtually non existent. It's essentially a tow way zone. Boating location is a 10 min. deviation from main road with an access road currently in bad state. Reasonable number of car parks are available there. Parking is charged irrespectively.

No access to public. Only you can view from the road. While we went in August 2022 the water flow was very less.

It's is not open for public currently. We can see it from on the road only. Previously it seems to be opened for public to visit the dam in Ooty udacamund.

Very beautiful place to visit. The dam is located on the way to Pykara lake. We are lucky to see more water in the lake and Dam.

Pykara dam is a small 2-4 gated dam located near to Ooty around 25 kms from there. The gushing water from the dam is not so mesmerising but the view of mountains and pine trees adds a mountain of beauty to this dam.
1.2 MW of electricity is generated from this dam. Full security measures are taken for the people to not fall into any disaster while viewing the dam but please make sure if the kids are with you then please take special care of them.

On the way to pykara warfalls one can view this dam from a water crossing bridge. One can't park there, hence can park vehicle before or after the bridge or park by a lane nearby to watch the dam which will be great if there is water flow. There is a hydro power plant producing power.

Excellent spot..But tourist are not allowed inside without prior permission from TNEB.. There is hydro power plant located inside... It's kind of pitstop,on the way to pykara falls and gudalur.. Inside of the lake boating facilities are there, good to spend some time with family, to reach there you have to cross pykara falls..
