Chokramudi is the prefect place...
Chokramudi mudi peak located near Bison Valley 23.3km from munnar town.It is not so popular place. It take almost 2hr to reach the top and you need to carry plenty of water with you bcz there is no shop there at the base. The trek lead through cardamom plantation and beware of small insects. When you reach the top you will get an amazing view. If you trek early morning you can witness the beautiful sunrise. Not recommended to treak during rainy season.
Used to be open to the public back in 2018-19 and all. Now have some restrictions for the same.
Bison Valley, Chinnakanal and Devikulam share their boundaries with Chokramudi. It makes Chokramudi even more appealing. The views around Chokramudi Peak are incredible.
Situated at 7,200 ft above Sea level in the Eravikulam National Park, the Chokramudi trekking project attracts a wide range of trekkers. The park is a home to wide species of flora& fauna such as Nilgiri Tahrs,Asian Elephants etc.The trek moves from tea plantations to ranges of grassland with rocky terrain.A 2-3 hours of trek will take you to the top of Chokramudi peak .
A walk through the steep slopes of the mountain will take the trekkers to the peak where the spectacular view of Tea Plantations far below Munnar, Mathikettan Shola National Park,Ponmudi, Anayirangal, Bison Valley can be seen from the top.The return trek is considerably short&can be completed within 1 to 1.5 hours duration.
Location: Idukki, To reach Chokramudi, take the Kochi-Dhanushkodi NH& the Gap Road. From there, a 3.5-km trek takes travellers to the Hill.
Best Time to Visit: Ideal time to visit and trek Chokramudi peak is from December to February( Winter season ).
Entry Fees: This is a guided trek.An entry fee of Rs 400 would be charged for Indians and Rs 600 for foreign citizens to trek to Chokramudi. The pass and permission can be obtained from the temporary trekking office functioning near Gap Road.
