A good place to visit during the evening hours. Weekends and public holidays witness large crowds here. The garden and the dam is really a good place to spend time. The rope way, garden, snake park, aquarium, children's park, hanging bridges, boating and the famous yakshi statue, all makes malampuzha dam a tourist attraction. One can enjoy the view of the dam from the ground and from the sky using the rope way or sky car. The pedal boating through the water also is an amazing thing. Overall malampuzha dam is a must visit place in Palakkad.

Malampuzha dam is a great place to visit when you want to feel free and also it's a nice place to roam with your friends too. There are many things to watch and take snaps off!

There is a view point at the top lf the Dam at the centre and also there was one telescope tower of the right side of the Dam. It's now abandoned.

The Yakshi statue is one among the greatest attractions in the Dam garden.

Boating is available here as well.

Many small shops are inside the Dam premises making it even more relaxing.

Kerala Government please don't take my words as an offense old gardens was more beautiful than renovated one done during V. S. Achuthananthan Government in 2006. Please bring back the old design and also re introduce boating on the reservoir which was stopped in the year 2008.

The dam project was begun in 1949 and completed in 1955. foundation stone for the project was laid on 27 March 1949, by the then Public Works Minister of Madras State, Sri M. Bhaktavatsalam as Palakkad was a part of the Madras Presidency during those times. The dam was constructed in record time, and on 9 October 1955, the then Chief Minister of Madras State, Sri. K Kamaraj, inaugurated the dam. The total catchment area is 145 square kilometres, while the reservoir has a capacity of 8000 cubic meters of water. The canal systems serve to irrigate farmland while the reservoir provides drinking water to Paladin and surrounding villages. The dam was constructed by the Madras government but upon the Creation of linguistically reorganized states ,The Malabar District encompassing the Dam became a part of the Kerala State.
