The interiors are nice, pocket friendly little restaurant. The food is good, the sheekh kebabs are some of the best you can have in town. The South Indian part of the menu still needs some brush up. A good experience overall.

I have been craving for some good South Indian food, and Tamarind was on top of my mind. Having visited this place a long time back, i knew they serve some amazing food. We started off with a Tomato Rasam, moved on to the classic Chicken 65 and Mutton Sukka, and on the main course, we ordered in Malabar Porota, Appam, Bisi Bele Huli Anna and Chicken Chettinad. Needless to say, the food didn't disappoint. Would come back again without any doubt!

This is the first South Indian non-veg restaurant we visited in Kolkata. Lovely ambiance, friendly service and good soul satisfying food. We never tried their north Indian food though. When there were not many non-veg south Indian restaurants in the city, this used to be our savior. The food today is equally good. The only thing we miss is their detailed menu book with the description of the dishes and the name of the states from where the dish originated. Now they have a simple menu card and it's a bit difficult to understand some of the dishes just by reading their names.
