State Central Library

Awesome place in state capital Thiruvananthapuram under full management of Kerala State Government.Good collection of books a copy of all published books will be available here.This place is very nice construction done by first Block was Maharaja of Thiruvananthapuram and Kerala Government from 2016 constructed new block matching the architectural value and design.Campus is huge and blessing for students kerala especially those are doing their research or phD thesis.

I like this place a lot because it has a very calm and beautiful atmosphere.

One of the most well kept and easily accessible libraries in the city, State central library has been the pillar of knowledge for most people in the city side. The library has both English and Malayalam sections in two separate buildings. The english literature section has recently gone through a restructuring and now its much more easy to get access to the books. If you are really onto books, then stop not, this is the right place for you...

It was one of the best experience I had from a Govt service.

Location is easily accessible as it's in the heart of the city.

Membership process was very clear and properly guided. It's very cheap premium i.e. Rs. 400/- for 5 Books/2 magazines. It's a Lifetime membership!!!

Books are issued for a month. It can be extended over phone or online. Try to make a call 1-2 days before expiry.

Pretty good, clean atmosphere for reading.

Free wifi was available in the campus

The library is divided in three seperate buildings.
1. Building for Malayalam books infront of entry gate
2. Building at the centre for English books, books from British library in first floor, and a reading room.
3. Building for children's books.

Cons:
Many sections especially subject sections have very old books 1. which are outdated, 2. Pages are missing, 3. Books are torn apart. 4. Improper cataloguing

I use the library for my kids and it's pretty updated with good collection of comics and science magazines.

Needs a major revamping/ renovation to sort the old books.

So many great memories associated with this place. Such a huge collection of books and useful reference books too. The membership fee was nominal in the past.

Members have the option of reserving books too. The staff are not very friendly as in any government setup. But the ambience of the place is great. They have closed the windows and done some maintanence too. So not as dusty as before.

Need membership to enter. The first One day membership will be 10 INR. Such a great place for whoever love to read. You can find almost all the books. It is located in such a beautiful place... it is full of Greenery. I loved💕 this place. It is a historical building.
