The Ganapati Hut, situated in the Ganapati Avenue, was the first establishment in the town. It acted as an office from where the entire township was Planned and constructed. This was the birthplace of "Chittaranjan", named after the late freedom fighter Chittaranjan Das, which was the first large scale industry of free India and one of the only planned cities in the country then. Even though this "Hut" is of huge historical importance to the city it is not well kept.

It's actually a hut. It was previously known as Ganapati Hut. When Chittaranjan Locomotive Works constructed during the year 1949- 1950 this Hut used as the first administrative office of this organization
