This statue is located in Tollygunge. It is just at the junction of Tollygunge Metro. It is a popular landmark of Tollygunge. It is at the point of Junction among 4 roads, one road goes towards Anwar shah road, one road is for coming from Anwar shah road, other one goes for Ashoknagar / Ranikuthi and the 4th one goes towards kudhghat / Siriti.

Uttam Kumar was born on 3rd September, 1926 in Calcutta. His original name was Sri Arun Kumar Chatterjee. Still he is known as Mahanayak. He was familiar with cultural icon. He was also regarded as the legend of Indian Cinema. His acting films were awarded National Film Awards, Harano Sur with actress Suchitra Sen in 1957, Saptapadi with Suchitra Sen in 1961, Uttar Falguni (he was producer) with Suchitra Sen in 1963. He became the best actor in National Film Awards in Chiriyakhana (Sri Satyajit Ray was director) and Antony Firingi with actress Tanuja in 1968. Following films were awarded by Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards, Saptapadi with Suchitra Sen, Nayak (Sri Ray's direction), Grihadaha with actress Sen, Amanush with Sharmila Tagore, Ekhane Pinjar, Stree. He played in Tapan Sinha's direction's films, Upahar with Sabitri Chatterjee and Jhinder Bondi with Sandhya Roy. Uttam Kumar rolled as actor in his own direction, Sudhu Ekti Bachar with Supriya Devi, Bon Palasir Padabali and Kalankini Kankabati both with Supriya Devi. He played in Mrinal Sen's film Raat Bhore with Sabitri Chatterjee. He acted about 212 films. He was also called as the God father of Bengali movies. His production films are Harano Sur, Saptapadi etc. He sang Rabindra Sangeet in All India Radio. His authorised biography Amar Ami was published in 1979. Dr Satyajit Ray wrote, "there won't be another hero like him". Raj Kumar wrote, "The smart modern hero of India." He died on 24th July, 1980 in Kolkata.
