Honest Review...please read once before planning.Very worst experiance. Location is adjuscent to a bali khadan. Truck are roamning through out the day and even in whole night. No one can sleep. The entire ambiance will go to hell for this. Baul artists are getting distrubed during their performance, staffs are disapointed, road condition are pathetic(You will not even think to step oitside without vehicle). Moreover there is no proper response from management. Will not recomend anyone. One star only for the great onground support staffs otherewise the overall its zero.

Imagine lying in a hammock amidst a forest, beside a river, far from the chaos and noise of city life, and watching forest birds chirping and playfully flying around you. And if this was not enough, you suddenly hear a baul singing with his ektara some local folklore. Well, now you don’t have to imagine. Mundira Musical Camp offers you exactly the pleasant respite what you are looking for, a much needed detox for your mind and soul. Mundira Musical Camp is located at Joydev Kenduli, a small village in the Bolpur subdivision of Birbhum District, West Bengal. The camp is situated just in the middle of a dense forest beside the northern bank of the Ajay river

Ambience - 9/10
Staff behaviour- 9/10
Infrastructure - 8/10
Overall experience and value for money- 10/10. A great experience amidst nature. Lala da is a brilliant host and takes care of guests very well. The cook Gour is a brilliant cook , cooks tasty food.

This place is not being run by corporate people hence don't expect glittering services. But the warmth and caring attitude of the people at helm is enough for the guests. If you are looking for an off beat stay amidst nature, this is the place.

The experience was extraordinary. Camp is just beside ajay river...Cool breeze was blowing. Lucky to get a cloudy and windy day for our camping. 'Moner manush' was just nearby from where people came to sing 'boul sangeet'... Had a special evening with my companion, group and camper team. Loved it. There are few places to visit at JOYDEB... A one time must.

Well, rather saying in detail, let me jot down the points begind the rating :-

WHEN DID WE GO :- In February
HOW DID WE GO :- By Bike
HOW MUCH TIME DID WE SPEND :- 1 Night

PROS :-
1. If you are frustated wasting your life within the concrete jungle and want to stay in a camp, this place has the option.
2. It is just beside the river and u can literally get down and walk on the river.
3. Singer sings really well.

CONS :-
1. This place is just beside one of the heavens of sand mafias, so expect trucks round the clock.
2. The place is still under construction. It's like, "Let's start the business with only the camp, roads, walls will be formed afterwards."
3. Other than the camps, there is JUST NOTHING.
4. Food quality is almost pathetic. We were not expecting a five star food, but at least enough clean(not mixed with sand) food for 10 people.
5. THE LAST BUT MOST IMPORTANT, management is very much unprofessional. They had to accomodate 10 persons and the extra tent for 10th person was set up exactly at 9pm.

RECOMMENDATION:- DON'T GO THERE TO DISAPPOINT YOUR WEEKEND STAY.

O what a time we spent in the silence of Mundira Musical Camp for 1 day. The foggy winter morning at the banks of Ajoy Nod, the red soil, the sounds of various known and unknown birds, the simple hearted welcoming and hospitable village folk, the sal, piyal and mohul woods, glittering sunlight, the uncanny dark evening and the eerie frosty jungle- all added to the charm that Joydeb-Kenduli has to offer. To crown it we have the baul tunes in the air, making us lose ourselves in the pathways of rarh Bengal. The place is the haven and home to baul singers who are immersed all the time in creative zeal, experimenting various lyrics and tunes in their ashramas. The adjacent villages are having a blend of pucca houses along with old style cow sheds and ancient temples. Evening comes dropping slow in purple glow and the shepherd lazily takes his cattle home while the red soil is lifted in the air by the hooves of the cattle.
As one reaches the camp, a refreshing welcome drink is offered. The tents are ready and those who have never stayed in a tent would find it really adventurous and fun. Take a stroll along the river bank, a few photo sessions, and bask in the friendly sun. Return to a sumptuous lunch and again go for a casual walk along the village paths and winding paths beside the woods. The lovely multihued green deep woods will allure you, smell the trees, walk barefoot, let the soil pamper the feet with the softness, take photos aplenty and talk to the local people about the history of the place. Evening at the camp is all about chopmuri and 2 hours of baul songs. What inexplicable divine voice these bauls are blessed with, and what talent the musicians have, one must come here to witness and be proud of the land one belongs to. Uttam Khepa and his team performed for more than two hours, interacting with us and sharing titbits of their baul tradition. Dinner will be served hot after the baul session. I must say food is delicious and the staff headed by Lalada is very helpful and endearing.

Joydeb, the famous pallikabi, was born here and the place inspired his literary creativity. There is a temple dedicated to him which dates back to the 17th century. The ornamental terracota bricks will transport you instantaneously to the 1600s and you'll be mesmerized by the temple architecture. Take a look at the various temples which have come up in the periphery in recents years as well as the ancient ones which are languishing in ignorance.

The return journey saw us entering the Garh-jungle to see the ancient Shyamrupa temple and Garhchandi temple, the site of first Durga Puja in Bengal ( as narrated by the sadhus of the temple complex). The red winding path through the jungle will keep increasing your interest as the path takes a Y diversion after certain distance, cinfusing one all the more. Both the temples are quite old although renovated and upgraded. A talk with the sadhus will help you find out the garh, not quite easy to find though, the tentultala, the platform of worship by Suratraja, and many more to explore.

Once done, return with the lingering memories of a time well spent away from the humdrum of city life, yet unknown to us. The love of a family during the much-awaited winter break is bound to make you feel peaceful. You may ride solo too if you are of that creed. Try booking during the Joydeb Kenduli mela during Poush Sankranti, the auspicious sankranti snan and overnight baul festival. Wishing you a happy time ahead.

The pictures aren't real. They are of another place called Arun spiritual ashram. The place is full of insects and the food is pathetic. Not worth the price they're asking for
