The Gateway Hotel Marine Drive Ernakulam

Great experience at Gateway. They accommodated our request for king beds and upgraded our rooms. The food spread is less, but all were quire tasty. Just bang next to the marine walk, Great ocean view rooms. Check in formalities can be looked at making faster, but check out was quick.

This is a great location_ on the Marine Drive, close to market places and easily accessible. Gateway is probably one of the oldest five star hotels in this area and it shows on the infrastructure. However it is reasonably well maintained. Rooms with sea view would be great to stay in. Only one restaurant is operational now, which offers multi cuisine fare. Breakfast spread is good. Staff is efficient and always willing to help you.

Gateway Hotel on the marina is a very well appointed hotel occupying best location on the prime property at Marina. The staff was courteous and place well managed. The rooms are good but can be little better. I would recommend it to those coming here full heartedly

Property location and view from the room is excellent. It is small but cozy property with authentic Taj hospitality.
Evening sun set cruse could be better with better boats. Boat used doesn't resonate well with Taj quality.

This restaurant is a disgrace to the gateway group. Limited menu. Harsh waiters. Ive never seen a restaurant where a waiter dictates what a person is to have.
If someone from the gateway group is reading the review.please connect with me as I would want to tell the name of the waiter in person so that corrective action can be taken.Arrogance at its height. Deplorable indeed.

Fabulous property, located between the shopping area of Cochin and the backwaters.
Thomas at the door was welcoming and helpful.
Eldho at the restaurant is very hospitable and his suggestions on the menu was fantastic. Great ambassador for the brand.
Quick check in at the efficient front desk.
Elevator could have been faster.
Entrance and parking area needs an improvement.
Will come back for a longer stay.

The staff at this hotel was amazing. They are super helpful and kind. The house keeping was great and always brought us our things super fast. The hotel is a bit old but thats fine for a few days. Breakfast was also good every morning and location is perfect. Near a ferry that gets to Fort kochi only for 7 rs.

I recently stayed at Gateway Ernakulam and was extremely disappointed with my experience. Despite the high rating, I found the hotel to be below standard in nearly every aspect. The only positive is the location which is right in marine drive and they have a gate to marine drive.

The room was outdated and in desperate need of renovations, with old furniture and worn-out linens. The bathroom was also in poor condition, there was no hand shower and water would clog in the basin.

There were mosquitos in my room in the evening and it was just terrible. I requested for a renovated room the moment I was at the desk they denied. I asked for free ferry ride which they arrange once every week I was denied the same.

The service was also lacking, with uninterested and unhelpful staff. On multiple occasions, I had to follow up multiple times just to get basic requests fulfilled. The restaurant was average with the Indian combo that I had which had no salt in majority of dishes.

I was expecting much more from a taj property, and was extremely disappointed with my experience. Also, gateway provides low quality toileteries unlike FE products at Taj properties. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone and would not stay here again.
