We spent 2 nights in Kalimpong, at PaliGhar homestay and I strongly recommend the place to visitors.
Kabir and his wife are 2 very nice hosts who like what they do and will ensure you feel confortable and safe during your stay.
They have built a very nice and well decorated homestay where you will have good quality services. The rooms are clean and well maintained, small attentions to details like flowers in the bathroom, etc. You have a view on the nature and the garden, the flowers that they have planted themselves. They have organized a nice outside table for lunch and breakfast where you will feel in the middle of the nature.
Local food cooked at home, very nice.
We came with 4 family members, my daughter 5 years old and my mother in law and we spent a nice time there.
We have participated to a "Momo cooking" activity with them and it was very pleasant.
We did a village walk as well as a river walk where my daughter could swim. Everyone enjoyed this time in nature and the way to meet a new culture from the North-East of India.
Kabir can also organize more deep programs around the region if you wish to, so do not hesitate to contact him in advance and discuss.

Living in India since 4 years and having traveled quite a bit, this stop in Kalimpong after Darjeeling was very nice and I recommend it with pleasure.

Palighar has got to be the 'go to' place when looking for peace and tranquility in these parts of the country. We spent two nights at Palighar and at the end of our stay I literally didn't feel like leaving! Great views, away from the main road so there is no air or sound pollution and some amazing trails to walk around in. The rooms are airy and well positioned to enjoy the sunshine and views.

My only gripe was that we didn't arrive sooner and leave later!

The BEST homestay we've experienced! It really sets the benchmark! Ahana and Kabir are the most wonderful hosts - warm, thoughtful, and very passionate and knowledge about what they do. Our room was extremely comfortable, with an amazing view. We were treated to the most delicious, nutritious, traditional Nepalese meals, prepared by Ahana and her help, Sanjay ji. Ahana's bread and jams are absolutely stellar too! The property is dotted with fruit trees and flowers and our little one had so much fun harvesting vegetables and berries with Ahana. Tip - It's located around half an hour away from Kalimpong, and while the directions provided are very clear, we found it easier to take a local cab from the town centre. Our stay was flawless. Would love to be back!

Palighar is a beautiful place/farmstay in a village near Kalimpong. I loved it here. Some places are special that makes you stop and relax and do nothing. Eat, sleep, watch birds, chat, dream..
A wonderful place to really forget everything and relax.

I rarely get to just be still. This was a place I really got to do that. A fabulous break for two days during a field trip to North Bengal.

What I enjoyed the most was sitting in the balcony in front of my room and just watching birds all over the trees and vegetation. We wandered down some path through the village for a walk too but as it was a bit foggy, and rainy at times, did not do much walking. But there are many walks in and around the area one can do, if you are there for a longer time.

The room was excellent, spacious, comfortable and well done up with all amenities one may need. I also loved the bathroom which was large, bright, clean. I loved the mudhouses and the appearance and the surroundings of the property.

Kabir and Ahana were excellent hosts and fun company, very caring and attentive.
The staff there - Sanjay (cook) and Shiva were also very nice and helpful.

I loved the food there - tasty wholesome, enjoyed all my meals there.
I got to have jhol momos - a Nepali speciality that I had never had before. Ahana makes jam from many fruits - I brought home some lovely plum jam.

There was also an adorable village dog, aptly called Scruffy who has adopted the place and its people.

Hope to be back there.

Rustic, relaxing and just the perfect place to be at when you need a getaway. From the rooms to the food to the company everyone and everything made us feel right at home.
Cannot thank the entire team enough for the absolute warm stay we experienced. Will definitely be seeing more of us!

Palighar is a little slice of heaven tucked away in Kalimpong. A retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and an opportunity to connect with and feel closer to nature.

Kabir and Ahana are the most gracious hosts, very knowledgeable and passionate about the change they are aspiring to make with Palighar. Their passion and hard work shone through every aspect of Palighar - the food, decor, construction of the rooms, and their conservation initiatives.

Ahana and Sanjay served the most delectable meals ranging from a delicious Nepali thali, traditional Tibetan noodle soup (thukpa), delicious buckwheat pancakes and of course the famous delicious Palighar guava jam, which more than lived up to expectations! The menu at Palighar is updated on a seasonal basis based on what fruits and vegetables are in season, all sourced locally, and many grown within the compound in true farm to table style.

The rooms were clean, cozy and comfortable with subtle touches of culture - the traditional Nepali khasto draped on the beds, the old school lanterns on the side of the bed, and of course kettles for hot water - because tea is life in the hills! :)

We came away from our visit rested and relaxed but more importantly with a deeper appreciation for nature, conservation, and the simple life!

My partner and I had a lovely stay at PaliGhar's homestay/farm. We wanted and were looking for a quiet place in nature to spend many days with a bit of a feeling of isolation but at the same time close enough to the city of Kalimpong. In this way we could choose when to be connected and when not. We enjoyed pleasant walks in the surroundings, the river, shopping in Kalimpong for gifts for the family... and we had some very pleasant cultural visits (temples, musical events...). The PaliGhar team was in charge of keeping us happy with our needs at all levels (room service, food, where to go, personalized taxi service, what to visit, what events were taking place, internet service, everything). .everything was so lovely we asked to stay 5 more days and they changed their plans to make it happen. They also do elaborate hikes and activities, but we didn't focus on doing too much because we also had to work on our business during our stay. Next time we hope we can also enjoy your hiking experiences and bring friends too. It is nice to see how they combine their business with respect for the environment, calling for quality tourism.

Palighar was our first stopover on our way to Sikkim. Right from the first sight to the moment we left the property, the experience was impeccable.

Food is great and well curated. The property is set idyllically with hikes and walks around, and perfect even to laze in. Kabir and Ahana are gracious hosts who will take care of all your needs. Sanjay, their cook, deserves a special mention.

Rooms and bathrooms are spacious, and there's plenty of lounging space in the property. Cleanliness is top notch.

Its located outside the town, so don't expect a touristy stay here. Its perfect for those looking for off beat, quiet, nature, farm, forest stays away from city.

Highly reccommend 2-3 nights stay minimum. Hope to be back soon!
