The immense work done by the surveyors needed some appreciation & almost none of us knew about the great work done by these people. So in a way, this project not only appreciates their work but also reminds people of their contribution to the society.
So overall, the aura of that place amidst the huge banyan trees, which was enhancing the character of that space!
Must visit place when in Pune!

Zero Stone is Civil Engineering historical benchmark and essential identified point of start of trigonometry survey. Hat's off to great Surveyors of history who made this enormous and challenging work kept ready for our use.

Accidentally dissociation this location on my way to some other place and then spent some of my time here taking photos and chilling. It has a lovely seating area near it and huge trees above to give you a cool shade in the scorching sun.

This is a small open (on the street) place with historical significance.
This was marked as the central point for Pune to be used as a reference for calculating the distances to and from Pune and other cities or villages.
Hence it is called pune Zero mile stone.

It was part of the great trigonometric survey of India that was done by the Britishers in the 19th century i.e. around 150-200 years ago.

The place is nicely decorated by the Pune Municipal Corporation. It has detailed information and history of this survey, statues of the people who worked in the survey and sculptures showing the surveyors with their instruments.

People in Pune should visit this place with their children to educate them about this interesting mega project done couple of centuries ago with basic instruments, thousands of workers and sheer will power of the mankind.

Zero mile stone is good place for educational visit. The place from where the distance of Pune city is measured from other destinations. History is mentioned. Need to give more scientific description about the measurement process. Parking is difficult since it is in busy area.

This should be a must visit spot in Pune city. This is the place from where the distance between Pune and other cities are measured. Lot of information is there about land surveyors. Very well restoration work done by PMC. If you need parking space, go around the GPO and you will find some.
