Beautiful with so much history within the walls of the temple. Such a grandeur. The temple is layered with grace and Ancient history. The temple has a "Hall of Thousand pillars" and each pillar is carved with various sculptures. There is free entry and paid entry for Rs 100 and 50. Paid will you get you through the crowd easily and there are mini sweet stalls inside the temple. Usually a very crowded place so people coming in bike and car better find their own parking spot somewhere else.
Note: Mobile phones not allowed inside the temple.

Their are 4 entrances to the temple. The East one is the main entrance. The majestic gates are crafted with one of the finest architecture ever to be seen. Very astonishing view at sunset time. Eco friendly restrooms available. Baby feeding rooms separately available too. A very beautiful temple and very important in Hinduism

Stunning place, definitely worthy your visit. Please expect crowds and long time standing in lines. You will need to wear long trousers, no shoes, and you can’t carry cameras and phones.
There is no access between 13:00 and 16:00. You can gain entry through either of four towers. Architecture and sculptures are unique and unforgettable. Look also for secondary gates located outside of main towers, they are beautiful and very interesting in their own right.
The temple complex looks breathtaking from afar too. Try to get to any of the hilltops in Madurai - views from there can amaze you!!

Marvelous sculpture and the sea of faith!
Must visit the temple, read the history before you visit.

The best time to visit is early morning.

There is a free entree and paid entree of rs.50. Preferred start location is East gate.

Truly a milestone in Indian historical architecture. Temple has its own legacy to say. The positivity we get in here is the most best thing . And we had free food that was served inside the temple post darshan which can't be explained just by words. The food was divine just as the temple. Must visit !!! Highly recommended.. !!!

Historical architecture excellence! Brilliance of Tamil Community! We will not be able to imagine how they would have built the temple it still gives goosebumps!
Identity of Madurai and they are maintaining it so neat. We will feel peaceful when we visit this temple❤

Superb Dravidian architecture. You can't take mobile phones inside so plan accordingly. There are four entry gates so you can enter from any of those. There are two queues , one free/ general and other paid/premium. Take your time, walk around temple to see the beauty & you'll get anything like cloths & different types of street food from there...
