The Matha Kuar shrine has a statue of Buddha dating back to the 10th century. This 3 m high statue is said to have been built of a single stone. The statue at the temple depicts Lord Buddha in a Bhumi Sparsh Mudra. It also shows Buddha sitting under the Bodhi Tree, which symbolically represents ‘the Enlightenment of Buddha'.

The statue also bears an inscription that is largely illegible, but surely indicates the date of its construction to 10th or 11th century. It is also believed that the Buddha delivered his last sermon at this place.

Weather: Summer 25°C to 40°C Winter 8°C to 16°C

This shrine is located at a distance of about 400 yards from the Nirvana Stupa. A stone portrays of Lord Buddha in the ‘Bhumi Sparsha Mudra’ (earth touching posture) under the ‘Bodhi tree’ was excavated here. The inscription on the statue dates it to the 10th – 11th century. Adjacent to this shrine, ruins of a monastery has also been discovered.

This temple needs lots of management as in rainy season it surrounds with water making it to not look good. It is believed that Gautam buddha have its last meal here before going to rambhar. A golden statue of Gautam Buddha is inside here which is worshipped by his monks. There is also bricks which is used by his monks to listen his preachings.
