First of all I would say this HANGING SINGLE ROOT BRIDGE is awesome. To reach this bridge , I have to go down at least 100 steps. It was raining there before I got down. As a result, the stone steps became very slippery. I was very afraid to get down. Halfway down the stairs I could hear the sound of water. And so the desire to see the bridge overcame my fear and gave me courage. When I reached there, I saw at afternoon sun shining on the water of the flowing river. And the living root bridge hanging over this rushing river made me speechless. Its natural beauty made me forget the difficulty of going down 100 steps of stairs.

Visited the Single Root Bridge on a weekday. Wonderful experience. Looks entirely different when there's no rain. This image was taken during the rains.

This is single root bridge which comes on the way to the double root bridge. This doesn't take long to reach as it's very close to the entry point, from where the journey starts. This has one layer of roots that have been made into a bridge. I found walking on this more thrilling than the double root bridge because this was longer and hanging higher from the ground. And it also shakes slightly as one walks. But it's fun. It's a slight detour from the double root bridge but definitely worth it.
Going in the winter months is better as there are no rains which makes it difficult and slippery to hike. Weather is cool and sunny mostly during the days, perfect for hiking. Take out a day for the full hike up till rainbow waterfall I'd suggest.
It's surreal!

These bridges were created by the local Khasi people, who have been weaving the aerial roots of banyan trees on opposite sides of streams and gorges for centuries, by hand. It is said that the older the roots are, the stronger they get. They are known as living because their roots keep growing.

Naturally formed bridge. The old bridge is closed because it's unsafe and one of them is functional. Only 2 people are allowed to walk at a time and it's almost around 5 mins walk from the midpoint towards double decker bridge. Mostly less crowded
