We traveled South India last year in September. Mr Venkatesh from The Travel Planet organised our trip. He was very quick and responsive to all our queries. The trip was organised exactly how we expected. All the hotels accommodation he arranged was excellent. Well presented and well mannered driver and good reliable car made our trip very comfortable and enjoyable. Right from the start at Chennai airport to finish in Bangalore it was fantastic. We would definitely use The Travel Planet for our next trip and love to recommend them to our friends (we have already recommended to one friend).

Great place to get your travel deals

I used The Travel Planet for a tour from Cochin to Kovalam. The first hotel in Cochin was good and the local tour guide was excellent. The second hotel we stayed at in Idukki-Udumbanchola, was in the middle of no where. You could not leave the hotel without transport, so we were stuck as our driver dropped us off and disappeared until the next morning. The hotel staff we not at all friendly and the food in the hotel left a lot to be desired. There was nothing to do at the hotel, no facilities. The next morning our driver picked us up for the visit to Mattupatti dam, tea museum and echo point. No where in the itinerary did it say we would drive for over an hour to be dropped of at a 4 x4 Jeep rental place and have to pay for the jeep to take us on a tour of the dam etc. After the tour the driver picked us up, then dropped us back at the same hotel, saying it’s only for one more night! Day 4 was spent driving to Periyar, the hotel was good and in a good location. The driver informed us that there was a good place to have a Ayurveda massage in Periyar. We said we would think about it as we would like to see where it is and what it entails, before agreeing to it. The driver completely ignored us and drove into this clinic/ hospital, told us to get out of the car and go and make an appointment to see the doctor to find out which type of massage we would need. He also said HE would decide what time in the evening we could go for the massage. We said NO and that he should take us straight to the hotel. That evening we were picked up by the driver and taken to the place where a show was on, he told us to walk back to the hotel after the show?? Day 5 a boat trip in the Tiger reserve was on the itinerary, as far as the itinerary read, this was included in the tour cost. We had to pay for this. Day 6 most of the morning spent driving to Alleppey to board a house boat for the afternoon and evening, this was excellent and the boat staff were really friendly and helpful. DAY 7. This was a disaster! We were picked up from the house boat and driven and dropped off at a remote resort in Quilon. We were the only two guest at the resort. When we arrived we asked if we could have lunch. They said they don’t have any food but they could make us a biryani. We then asked what was there for dinner in the evening. We were told that we would need to go to the next town which was 30 k away for dinner as they don’t have anything. In a discussion between the resort manager and ourselves, we made it very clear we would not be venturing out at night to find a restaurant, god knows where, and that they took the reservation and needed to supply us with food. The manager asked us what we wanted for dinner and breakfast and went out and bought it. At least there was a swimming pool at this resort, all be it that it was in a very sad neglected way, the whole resort was sad and neglected, but the staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be. Day 8 we were picked up from the resort and driven to Kovalam. The hotel there was good.
The driver for the whole journey from Cochin to Kovalam drove like a mad man. He was constantly beeping the horn, overtaking everything, even when there were trucks and cars racing towards us.He complained about everyone’s driving, saying they were all tourists and didn’t know what they were doing! He would stop at places if we wanted to take photos . We did not feel at all comfortable in his presence. His driving on the last day was particularly bad, we were supposed to be doing a visit to temples and museums, but said we would prefer to go straight to the hotel.
Would I use this company again, NO. Was the tour value for money, NO.

Just finished our temple trip of 5days, driver Raj was vey helpful and we had good darshan in all temples and hotels we neat and clean we highly recommend them to our friends thank you again

Uday fabri is in my village, it is out of city but most of the peoples visit this place often, it is export company only not a retailer

It is very unfortunate that the South India Tour has come to an end and we are back home.

The chosen hotels were quite good and the dinner at Blanket would remain as an unforgettable moment in the history of the Tour. The Drivers were to the standard and were cooperative mostly through the tour.
