Black Yak Expeditions

Doing the 8 day Goecha La Trek with Black Yak Expedition was one of the best experiences we ever had! The owner, Puspa Lama, was very welcoming and made us feel at peace at any time.
Our tour guide, Puran Gurung, and the expedition team, Nima and Satyam (+ the Yak porter) were some of the friendliest people we met during our travels. They prepared some of the best food we ever tried in India for us, and told us everything about the Khangchendzonga area and Sikkimese culture. We saw plenty of wild animals, including the Himalayan Black Bear, the Langur monkey and blue sheep.
Together we played cards and shared great moments in the mountains. We would recommend Black Yak to anybody who wants to do combine challenging treks with great and fun times. One of the best expedition companies in the Himalaya!

This is one of the best professional Trekking companies in Sikkim. They take utmost care for all the participants, have some of the best equipment, top quality staff and high end logistics. The most wonderful 8 day Goechala trek with the team from Black Yak who were brilliant! My wife and I always felt in good hands in the high mountains. The food was amazing, the tents, sleeping bags, liners were more than adequate for the cold nights.
Highly recommend using Black Yak, very professional outfit that gave us space when we wanted it.

I completed the Dzongri trek with Black Yak mid-November, and had a wonderful experience! Pushpa went out of his way to be able to accommodate a solo trekker at as reasonable a price as possible (it was still expensive, but that just seems to be the standard for trekking in Sikkim...). I had a great guide, and the material provided was well adapted to cold temperatures up the mountains. The cooking was varied and bountiful. The view from Dzongri at sunrise was unforgettable. Thanks Black Yak, I recommend trekking with them!!

We had a wonderfull trek with Rakesh and Dawala as our guides. They are very knowledgeable, so thanks for the experience! The tents, sleeping bag and food was also great. Big thanks to the rest of the crew as well!! We highly recommend trekking with Black Yak!

Mr Pushpa is extremely professional and organises the goechala trek well. Despite severe weather in December, the support staff was cheerful and well equipped to deal with challenges. Overall, a wonderful experience.

This was a first time trek for me and a very arduous one at that. I went with a group of 15 other doctors from different parts of india. Honestly there were times when I was overwhelmed and worried becoz use of the weather and terrain
But boy I’m glad I did this. Black Yak is a very professional and experienced group. Their manager Mr. Pushpa ensured that everything was taken care of. The tents and equipment were of the highest quality. It must’ve been tough for preparing food for us at such a high altitude in that extreme weather but the staff did that beautifully and ensured that we got 3 meals and 3 coffee/ teas. ( a shout out to the porters and cooks who worked very hard from dawn to dusk)
Some of us were laggards and the guides actually came back from the camp ahead to give us tea / hot water to enable us to complete the daily trek. That surely ranks very high on my list for the extra care we received.

Nima our main guide is very experienced and knew the terrain well. We changed the route plan a few times and he was very flexible to Accommodate. The other guides Dinesh, ito and Sacha ensured that none of us were alone, literally they were there in front, center and rear. They are life savers and you cannot find a better team to lead you safely through the sometimes difficult terrain.
I must not forget to mention that Puspa gave his personal day back pack because I had not gotten mine ( that is personal care )
