First of all, the people from the agency as well as the guides are very friendly. Make sure that you know how a desert in Rajasthan looks like before going to Jaisalmer for a Safari. Yes there are sand dunes but its not only sand dunes (it's not like sahara). Pictures everywhere in Agencies want you to believe that you'll be surrounded only by sand dunes. It looks more like a steppe, you'll always be surrounded by bushes and you won't make it too deep into the desert.
If you take all this in account you will have a wounderful and memorable time in the desert. We booked a two night desert safari. The communication between us and the agency was very easy and they arranged everything for us including pickup early morning from the train station. We had one full day in desert which was totally worth it and a good experience. We were riding the camel (dromedaries) for around 10h im total, breakfast, lunch and dinner was freshly cooked by the guides and we got cold beer in the desert for a extracharge. They made a really good job - can recommend!

An incredible experience! We had a private half-day tour and it was amazing. The tour started at 15 and we saw very few tourists: we were alone in the desert with the two guides and the dromedaries. The dinner under the stars was really good, everything cooked on the moment on the fire. Recommended!

The tour was nice, the staff, Sambu and Puna, were friendly, honest and professional. The food was good in being for desert standards, and the camels were in good shape.

The place where we camped was beautiful and clean (and they were respectful with the environment, taking all rubish back with us)

They picked us up and left in the hotel.

Thank you!

I booked a ‘non-touristic’-safari with Sahara Travels in January 2023 and spent one night in the open desert dunes (no tent, no beds, just the open sky..). I was a little afraid about the cold, but it was no problem at all, there were enough blankets provided.
What an incredible experience. The camel ride and the sleeping experience were really good, but what I almost liked most was the food preparation on the open fire. I watched as the great desert guide prepared everything in such an experienced and beautiful manner, you could tell that he’s done that many times before.
Unforgettable experience, and I would definitely recommend Sahara Travels. Go for this ‘non-touristic’ tour, if you want the real experience, and leave the hotel room like tents in town..

A lot of companies in Jaisalmer offer all kind of different desert experiences. We went with Sahara Travels, run by Mr Desert. They did a great job!
A one and a half hour jeep ride took us from Jaisalmer further into the Thar Desert. Where somewhere in the middle of nowhere two guides and six camels were waiting for us to take us even deeper into the desert. We were in a group with four other tourist: a couple from Switzerland, a boy from England and an Italian girl from Spain. Our two guides were on foot, leading the camels. After being on the back of a camel for an hour and a half, we stopped and setup camp in the middle of the desert, in a little valley between a couple of sand dunes. A group of four French women who were already riding on a camel since 8 in the morning joined us for the night. Our guides made a little camp fire, made chai (Indian tea), baked chips, and cooked us a simple but tasty dinner. Ella is not a fan of camping, so she went back to the hotel after dinner. I slept under the stars! Blankets were provided. It got pretty cold later during the night. Our guides cooked us breakfast before we hopped back on our camels for the ride back. It was an awesome experience!

We (my wife and me) had planned to visit Rajasthan, primarily hoping to explore the Desert. Many people tried to cheat us by reducing money and telling us they would give 5-6 hour of camel ride and other stuff. All this is not real Thar Desert all about! I have read reviews of Sahara Travels and opted them as they provide safer off the beat experiences. I came to know that many foreigners take such experiences and Indians choose famous Sam Sand Dunes which is fully crowded and feels like a city unlike a desert.
I called Aniketh (owner of this travels) on the morning of our trip and asked him about packages and itinerary. He suggested a fantastic plan, just what I was hoping/planning.
Manu (his assistant) dropped on the jeep near Keshavoon Ki Basti. From here, camel safari starts. Mr. Ghazi was our guide for the trip. He has a friendly personality who tries to give the best to his guests. I especially appreciate his honesty and his food. We had a great time discussing their living conditions, education, politics, nearby tourist places and endless talks.
We started our trip and reached to a place named Bedea. We had clear weather so we could see the stunning sunset at those dunes. The dinner prepared on the firewood was superb. We slept in the open sky.
Next day our route was towards Siyalan Ki Basti. This place too had little to none disturbances. We don't find DJ, Tents, City culture or any such sort (since we want a deserted experience). We experienced glimpses of real desert life.
We liked the trip so much that we extended the trip by one more day. Aniketh assisted us in getting our train (as our plan got changed) conformed. Next day we visited Heddar Kidani village and explored their culture and people. For lunch, we halted at Mitiyala and reached Mawa for sunset.
We were lucky enough to see drizzle in the desert, which was mesmerizing to witness.
Overall we had an enjoyable experience. We felt that Desert captivated us and we felt we wanted to visit again. I recommend it to anyone who wants to the real desert.
