I recall way back in '67 my family was shifting to Bhagalpur consequent to my father's posting. The Jeep driver took half say 45 kms from Patna, to have tea on a Roadside Dhaba...it was a thatched big hut. I was told it's also famous for Kheer (Pudding), being child of 11 years, it was new experience for me who hadn't traveled excepting to Village from Patna. Since then World changed, met several times the person Owning the business as on every occasion I will make a stop there. One late evening was returning and my friend's Motorcycles chain broke. Fortunately we pulled to the famous Mamta Motel. Gentleman (Owner) was on a Khatiya (cot), he saw us perplexed and helped personally lighting torch while we repaired, thus grew my Respect for him further. Normally with rise in fortune people grow Arrogance and in Bihar Ego is inherent in tons in entire population, none are have-nots and this Man helping personally... We will definitely exchange pleasantries whenever I see him anywhere. He grew more humble and so his businesses. He created Mamta Travels, managed even restaurant at Patna Airport. I met his Son who was now grooming himself to step in his father's shoes. I left Patna in 94 (from 87 till then I was most travelled person from Patna Airport) and met on few occasions his Son. He may recognise if come face to face but definitely both of us will scratch our heads for minutes...in placing each other. This time I had to rush to Patna as my brother was serous with Dengue and my return ticket was not done as we didn't know when will he be discharged from hospital. While booking return ticket I was bringing my FIL, and GoAir site was not accepting 2 Passengers... So called a friend who worked for Airlines at Patna even for GoAir. He asked me to send the booking details with assurances, I will get tickets. And when I had send money Mamta Travels name cropped up, they only had booked my ticket. All past good old days flashed and I called up to thank the Son but he wasn't available. The staff did give me number (I'll catch up with him someday) and Impressed me with manners. I liked it, thanked him for the services he rendered, checked if Money is received and hanged the phone.....
