Very nice and serene place to be. It's cold throughout the year and very pleasant. One can definitely say this is the queen of hill stations.

Experience in one word- Magical. There will be two train service in a day to Mettupalyam and two till Coonoor. It's highly recommended to book your tickets in advance using IRCTC portal to avoid chaos at station. The station will be heavily crowded and brace for it. The train runs on meter gauge track and is a delight to travel. You can see the beautiful landscape of Ooty, go through tunnels, bridges, see couple of industries along the way and enjoy the ride.
If you are in a hurry then you can take the ride till Coonoor and return by bus to Ooty. Else you can take the train till Mettupalyam and the whole long journey through the Nilgiris.

Final station of toy train.. It's a big station. They have setup a small heritage museum to know the history of the toy train. One Restaurant and basic amenities are available. It's located in the ooty town so it's easy to move around.

The final Stop of Toy Train which begins the journey from Mettuplayam. The Temperature is awesome and the ambience of the station is neat and clean and well guarded by the police and RPF as it is crowded during the arrival of the train . Parking , cab, nearby market is available. All tourist destinations are nearby but traffic would be there during peak seasons

Queen of hill station. Great place to get relief from heat of Summer. Great initiative by government to ban use of paid plastics. In summers it gets very creeks crowded that's the only problem.

This is one of the World Heritage site, best part is toy train journey from Ooty - Conoor - Mettupalayam one can enjoy beautiful view of Ketty valley & Nilgiris. In case if you can't ticket for UDG - MTP(2 Trains daily)go for UDG - ONR daily 3-4 trains running between UDG - ONR. Inside the station there is a small Train museum entry free.

This is the starting and ending station of toy train. I recommend to book tickets the previous day from IRCTC website, it’s difficult to buy tickets on the fly at the station. First class ticket costed around Rs.350+tax. The 2nd class ticket was about Rs.150.
I travelled from Coonoor to Ooty(Udhagamandalam station). The journey was for about an hour.

The journey through the enchanting hills , tunnels, view of the tea estate, Nilgiri trees was mesmerising.

One has to experience this if you visit Ooty.

It was cool and energetic experience to visit Udagamandalam railway station, where the toy train starts its journey. more than the regular travelers, you can see the tourists here. you can book the tickets from the counter. you can see the steam loco displayed at the station. Its an attraction. The tricolor Indian National Flag which hoisted in such a height invite you to this location from any surrounding area. There is a Railway museum in the location, where you can see most of the components which used in the old steam loco railway.
