Magudanchavadi was earlier named MacDonalds Choultry after Col MacDonald who led the Sankari detachment of 22nd Madras Battalion garrisoned at Salem Fort during the third Mysore war.He constructed the choultry at his own cost in 1793 for pilgrims visiting Sri Kailasanathar temple.

Is good. Lies on NH 47 and are there variety shops, nearby railway station.
