SRI RAM SAGAR PROJECT

This project is on the NH-44 kanyakumari to Srinagar highway .project is 3km far away from national highway ,evenings timings are the best for visiting & try to carry food items ,snacks before coming here no cafeteria in srsp try to purchase from pochampad village .

90 TMC capacity Irrigation project across river Godavari and this is located at a distance of about 53 kms from Nizamabad. This is an excellent picnic spot. This place attracts tourists from all over the State during monsoons and particularly when the flood gates are opened. Though, there is no accommodation here, Irrigation Guest House is available for officials and public representatives.

Nice reservoir, good part is you can drive upto the embankment. Can see water stored in vast area. Was lucky as few gates were partially open. So could see the huge outflow which was scary but a very great sight. Also could get down the dam and walked to the river side where we could feel the water and see lots of fish jumping in the water. Few people were fishing as well. Well spent time with friends.

Sriramsagar is an irrigation project across river Godavari in Telangana to serve irrigational needs in Karimnagar, Warangal, Adilabad, Nizamabad, and Khammam districts. It also provides drinking water to Warangal city. There is a hydroelectric plant working at the dam site, with 4 turbines each with 9 MW capacity generating 36 MW.

I went to Shriram Sagar long with the family on 14th August 2022. But unfortunately the gates were closed however we enjoyed the mesmerizing and beautiful view of the dam the dam is very huge you can enjoy a long with the family however there is no scope of getting into the water until unless you know the shortcuts however I suggest not to venture into the water as the flow is very dangerous. Beside the dam there is a park you can go and sit and take rest along with the family and also you can enjoy your food and take rest.

Amazing place to visit. Sri ram sagar project, at an estimated 40-50kms from Nizamabad is a nice Getaway to enjoy some pleasant time. Go with your own bunch of friends to have more fun(pics,videos and reels guaranteed).
Pro tip:
1. Enquire if the gates are open before going, you won’t regret it. The feeling of watching the water get free and loose through the gates, it’s just surreal.
2. There’s a 1 km route from top of the road to a (not so) secret place from where you can have an amazing view of the entire reservoir and if you are lucky, you can see fisherman fishing and rainbows occasionally.

Wonderful place and amazing backwaters really enjoyed it a lot, but boating is not available currently... Waiting for more attractions..., govt should really concentrate over the tourism attractions and develop the route for Dam.... Can plan lot more......
