Kalingarayan Anicut, Erode

Very old check dam. Maintained by Public work department. Pubic are not allowed inside the check dam area when we visited. Not sure they would allowed inside the park area. We saw from outside.. the outside is not clean and dirty one. Only local people were there.

Very good place to hangout with friends. It was surprisingly very nice and made me wonder how our ancestors make everything to enrich lives of people and as well as conserving nature.

"Kaaligarayan anicut", A dam build by Mr. kaalingaraayan to benefit people for farming and other uses. The dam was built 700 years ago and still stands strong and awesome. The place is maintained well. There is also "Kaalingaraayan manimandapam" where you can can ready about him and relax inaide. The river nearby is enjoyable as well.

Build by kongu Mamannar kalingarayan gounder by 1283 providing water linking between Bhavani and Noyyal river .the project took 12 years to complete started by 1271. Irrigates over 15,000 acres with its 56 mile long canal. Currently under renovation by Tamilnadu government since 2016. Site is closed.

Best place to visit. Water flow is very good when rainy season. Must visit. Hidden gem in erode(bhavani).

Good environment and you can spend your time your friends and family 🙂 right time to visit September to February. But Temporarily closed main road you want to visit this place going to Uthandrayan Temple road.
