Excellent spot to spend the day in historical place with beach near by , lovely scenery and lots of learning from danish fort, no problem in parking space, church also near by the fort, beach is as usual filled with lovers but can go with the family no issues on that, only problem there is no public toilets around.

It's an old Danish trading port. A sleepy coastal town in Tamil Nadu. The fort is the major attraction. Do not go on Friday as the fort is closed. You could also check out the museum and the Ziegenbalg House where you can find a 19th Century printing press in operation. The lady here will also give you a demo of how the printing used to take place. But, the place does not require an overnight stay. I suggest a day trip to Tranquebar from Pondicherry at best.

Good place to visit with boy's squad. But the place is quite so dirty with fish and crab remainings and also it doesn't have an bathroom or clean water resources to bath so keep that in mind while bathing in sea. The sea is salty.... About the palace the Palace is very good and built during the Danish period many monuments are found in the castle and looks nice. The castle management charges an minimum amount to enter the castle. Nice area to cover the photo shoot.....

This quaint gateway used to be called Landsporten . From here towards the beach is the historic zone of Old Tranquebar or Tarangambadi . Landsporten, this simple arch with the Danish Coat of Arms is the gateway to the Danish Quarters. The madinry arch has the Danish Ciat of Arms embossed on it .
First built in the 16th Century as soin as the Danish people had set base here , but since that was destroyed in an accident , the prrsent gate was built in 1792.
It is an historic monument still standing , but rarely given a cleaning or white wash .

Tharangambadi (Tranquebar), the place of the singing waves, is a small coastal town in Tamil Nadu 120 km south of the former French colony Pondicherry (Puducherry). Tharangambadi is known for its ozone rich beaches. It was once a Danish colony and was known as Tranquebar.

A sleepy town in the shore of bay of Bengal catches your eyes when you crossby. The town has a long history of colonialisation by the Dutch. The way to the beach makes you feel nostalgic. It will definitely take you to the colonial era because nothing has been modified since long. The old heritage buildings are well preserved. The old jewish church and a school by the way you reach the beach. This takes you to the famous Tranquebar fort over the beach . Pls check the timing of opening before going. Probably 9am. The beach was very clean when I was there. Calm and crowd free. I spotted a murugan temple also there. Don't know more about it. Yes, i saw many peacocks over the beach and that a was surprising moment . An old bunglow over the beach just opposite to the fort looks stunning and has stood the time was and another attraction for photography. It's been converted to a resort (pls verify) . Rest, was a peaceful place to visit during my pilgrimage trip of Thirunallar via thirukadiyur
