A short trekking place to see ancient caves. Half day to trek and half day to chill in hills. A peaceful and beautiful place near to Chennai. The path leads to gudiyam from Chennai is also full of reserved forests. So worth to see.

Wonderful place for one day trek from Chennai. It's a real dense forest. Therefore going in groups is advisable. Take loads of water and fruits. Good trekking shoes is a mandate. The trail is covered with full trees and hence it is generally cool but taking a cap is advisable. Best time to trek is during spring time. Make sure to reach the place well early in the morning so that the heat is not felt.

People who plan for a day's Trek, Gudiyam is an excellent place to loose yourself with the Nature, Carry Enough of Water, And make sure You Get someone who knows the Route very, Such Deep The Forest that you may loose the Path.

TIPS NOW* :
1) Yes you will get lost - The First Timers, make sure you get someone from the village ( there are some families living on the foothills of the cave ) to accompany you.
2) Carry Enough of Water as you won't find Any source inside the forest
3) Trekking with family isn't Encouraged. *Applies by the Interest*
4) THE whole Journey would take you 2-3 Hours only, as we finished Within 2Hrs
5)It's a Raw Nature, Enjoy it completely, don't expect any Facilities there in the yrs To come, yeah this Gonna cheerish With Mass Crowd.

This place was really amazing and adventurous. The caves dating back to the paleolithic age were very beautiful and also the trek path, surrounding forests views were serene like in heaven. This place can be quick weekend getaway from Chennai. Please carry enough water for the forest trek and prefer a local guide to take you to.the caves. This place is a must visit for adventure, jungle and trek lovers! This place is not suited for family/elderly people and there will be no communication inside the forest as it comes under the reserved forest!

This place is officially closed by forest department to preserve its historic values. Public who violates the law are taken into custody immediately. Please do not risk it. Let the government preserve it and come with with better solution in the future for the public access.

Good place for hiking. Two caves are there. Paleolithic people were lived in it. You can find some stone tools too.
