It is a soothing beauty, lush heritage village containing all the basic amenities that a village would have, beautifully reconstructed. A performing theatre, greenroom, houses, granary, wells and also a museum perhaps is a work in progress. They should put a souvenir shop here. It remains mostly empty, or sparse amount of tourists. The startof David Scott trek is here, a guide is required for the same

It's a very small village preserved with about 4-5 huts with traditional look. Nothing very great about it but the sacred forest grove opposite to it is very beautiful and worth visiting. Overall a very lush green and scenic place. Loved being here.

Still under construction, but is well maintained and the authenticity of Khasi heritage can be seen in beautifully built and maintained village. The village has sacred forest in its circumference which has a history of its own. Anything cannot be taken out from the forest and your guide will warn you about it in the beginning of the trip itself, stories like once a women plucked an orchid from the forest and took it with herself for which she had blisters on her entire hand and got treated only when she returned the flower back to the forest and pardoned for this mistake along with several tribals. This village was also used to sacrifice animals for the prosperity of the village and tribes. Many male and female stones are beautifully arranged in the premises of the forest which were used in different procedures of sacrifice. It is said that each village must have a sacred forest, a king and kingdom. There are 9 such forests, but not all of them are open for visitors and some of them are not even maintained. #letsguide

This place has nothing much to offer but at the same time it’s not to be missed. There is stone sculpture just at the entrance which adds appeal to the place and an ideal place to click some pictures. Moreover some old houses stand strong even though they been partly blown off by strong wind currents, adds charm to the place. As we proceed inside there is a shelter which opens up to the vast views of the mountainous range

Best place near Shillong, it is a model of old traditional khasi village and in front of Sacred forest. Local peoples believe "What else is in the forest, it should not be taken out for any purpose". It is a tribute to their god and with this practice the forest is well maintained.

The forest is very dense and expanded in kilometres. A guide is mandatory to enter inside forest and easily available on ticket counter. They explain everything about the forest and khasi culture.

Nice & Clean place. And also less crowded which is the best thing. One & half hour ride from Shillong Police Bazaae. My visit was quite amazing.

While the village appears to be a dead place, the visit is an absolute must! Why? For a trek in the Sacred Forest. It's a walk worth an infinity! Thick forest with a huge variety of trees.
