Umngot River

The best thing seen in long time. This river is extremely clean crystal clear experience. I loved it. The boat ride was smooth. Must visit when in Meghalaya. Dawki us very popular amongst tourists. Had lovely time here.

You can visit this place with any 2/4 wheeler. No problem in that. You have to rent the boat and they will take you on the journey of heaven. You basically go from one river side to another. Stay there for some time and return back. You can see the people from Bangladesh on their land.

This river connects India and Bangladesh. This is called the cleanest river in India . The beauty of the river is of next level. It feels like out of the world experience. The river water is like mirrio and the stones gives a heavenly beauty. I can feel this beautiful even after so many years just by closing the eyes

Boating takes 800 for a small trip and 1000 for a dip in river and to the zero point (The closest you can get to Bangladesh)

Visit in evenings to ensure better pictures and summer is a right time to visit for the clearest view of water.

The Umngot River, also known as the Dawki River and Wah Umngot, is a river that flows through Dawki. The small border town Dawki of Meghalaya is popular for its famous Umngot river and beautiful suspension bridge. It is a major tourist destination in Meghalaya.
The water of Umngot river is so clear that the boats floating on it, look as if they are on a crystal glass surface. Dawki lies between India and Bangladesh. And the river is half in India and half in Bangladesh. They take us to the Bangladesh side too while boating so beware not to get confused and come back to the India side.
The charge for boat riding is Rs. 800/- for three person.

Also known as Dawki river is Asia's cleanest river. It is so clean that one can see the bottom of the river. The boat ride ticket is 800 per boat. It is a very beautiful and photogenic place.
Bad stuff:
The road to reach here is in very poor condition and under-construction. It took 6hrs to reach here.
You can see a lot of trucks on the road with lots of dust.
Only the place is good, no amenities are present such as public toilets.

Umngot river on the border town of Dawki between India and Bangladesh. The river flows through India to Bangladesh. One of the places which has still not been polluted and you can see crystal clear water. It takes approx 3 hours to reach the place from Shillong. One can do a 30 or 60 minute boat ride on the lake which can be booked on the spot.. Nice experience. Must visit before it gets polluted.

Umgot river is very beautiful. It has crystal clear water. You can take a boat ride in the river. Boat ride costs 1000 rupees for 1 hour. The boat touches the Bangladesh border before returning. Don't visit the river during monsoon as the river becomes dirty. They have also started scuba in the river. I could not try it as it was closed on Sunday.
