A small town 60 km west of Sagar on Bhopal Sagar Road renowned for its battlement ramparts, its gates and its ruins of palaces temples and mosques. It is picturesquely situated on the steep bank of the river Bina which is crossed at this point by a fine bridge of fourteen arches, completed in 1863.Close to the town stands the famous fort of Rahatgarh. It outer wall consists of 26 enormous towers, some of which were used as dwellings connected by curtain walls and enclosing a space of 66 acres. Two miles away from the fort is a waterfall nearly 50 feet high in picturesque surroundings.

I went here in March when the waterfall had just dried up. Still the place is beautiful, located amidst dhok forests and overlooking the rahatgarh fort. Locals say that there are footprints and punch marks of bhim in the area , imprinted during the Pandavas exile period. There is also a 3 day mela held here every year in the month of October-november where thousands of people assemble and worship the idol of God bhimsen , which is located somewhere in the waterfall premises.
It's also dangerous during the monsoon season due to strong water currents in the bina river , leading to quite a number of mishaps.

It's worth visiting the place in or just after the monsoon, when the water level is high. The water level drops very low in the summer months and one can barely see any flowing water.

When I first saw this waterfall, I immediately thought of Burney Falls in California. The seepage or maybe weepage was quite similar. Rahat garh is much wider.

Wonderful leisure place near sagar city, with a wide approach road, ample eateries, picture perfect landscapes, huge picnic area.

Rahatgarh waterfall is located 6km from Rahatgarh town and about 45km from Sagar city. Entrance of the waterfall is on the right side when coming from Rahatgarh town.
Waterfall is open from 7am to 6pm.
Entrance road is in bad condition and need significant improvement.
Renovation work is in progress in the waterfall area.
It has good protection railings to avoid any untoward damage to living beings.
Best time to visit is rainy seasons or immediately after that. It dries up after rainy season is over.
Bina river flows here and it is amidst good forest area.
Picturesque place but not maintained effectively to attract tourists.
No entry fee, no drinking water available.

Well, a treat to the eyes. 65 km from Sagar district and 6.5 km from the Rahatgarh fort this tourist attraction is breathtakingly beautiful. A lot of monkeys to witness , so make sure you don't take anything to eat near them. The water level rises anytime so make sure you stay at a distance. The cool breeze and water droplets would make you feel relaxed. Cute picnic spot and a perfect weekend getaway. There are shops nearby. Make sure you don't litter and throw all the plastics and waste in the dustbin.
