Its a nice place , the ground is big and well maintained.

Very nice place to visit with family and friends. But restricted to defence personnel only.

Protected place under defence. Annual vintage cars rally is organised here for the public when visitors and photographers may witness the event against Entry Curd issued by the authorised organiser. Rights of admission reserved.

Beautiful stadium for army personnel

For family entry into the Eastern Command Sports Stadium for the Statesman Vintage and Classic Car Rally by our self-driven car, the defence personnel manning the entrance were super strict and insisted on passes. No amount of reasoning helped.
Passes were given only from the Statesman House this year and obviously not possible for thousands of vintage car enthusiasts and photographers to run to central Kolkata instead of some online mode, especially after 3 long years of COVID lockdowns!
We were carrying our Indian passports and driving licences, which proved our identities beyond any doubt and we were ready to register those in the Fort William entry register!
Still the Statesman had briefed the Eastern Command to be super strict, I don't know for what reason on earth! Not for security reasons, of course!
We have been going to this specific car rally for almost 25 years with entry passes, which neither the defence men nor the Statesman was ever interested to check even on insistence. Wonder what happened in 2023! Sheer harassment when the charm and exclusivity of annual vintage car rallies has been hijacked by similar rallies every weekend of the entire 2022-23 winter at innumerable city clubs!
