The sambhar was great, coconut chutney needs little improvement, tomato one was good. The Dosas could be crispier. Normal dosa texture was not that great, though rawa one was better.
Overall its a good place in the city to have Dosa.
The waiting management on the weekends is bad, the waiting time on weekends is around an hour. People break waiting queues by hook or by crook which is highly disappointing.

The place is known to have brought the South Indian food for the first time in Udaipur. It is the oldest South Indian restaurant in Udaipur and has maintained its taste. It's known for the authentic taste in South Indian food. When there weren't many restaurants in Udaipur, Purohit Cafe was the place Udaipurites used to flock to. It's more about the emotion of people of Udaipur rather than anything else. This place still remains heavily crowded in evening.
Food: 5/5
Taste, quality, quantity, aunthenticity, everything is perfect.
Service: 5/5
Pretty quick. They usually take 5-10 mins to serve.
Ambience: 5/5
More like a traditional dining hall of a good court. But that's as per the price this place asks for.
Every Udaipurite would have once dined here or at least would have heard the name of this place. Popular for its South Indian food with a hint of North Taste to it made Purohit Cafe the go to place of Udaipur people in the 90's. Pure veg place located in Anand Plaza serves a variety of Idli, Dosa, Uttapam etc dishes with chaat items like bhelpuri, Pani puri etc.
We tried
- Butter Mysore Masala Dosa
- Butter Masala Dosa
Butter Masala Dosa was a thin crisp dosa with mashed aloo filling. We asked for the aloo filling separately and not in the dosa. The filling had a tangy flavour. The dosa was served with Sambhar and two chutney i.e. coconut chutney and one spicy chutney. Butter Mysore Masala Dosa had a little spicy flavour as compared to Masala Dosa.
Over all the taste was good & hasn't changed a bit in years but the prices have increased with no change in quantity.
The Price of Dosa was INR 170 & 180 respectively but accordingly there was no such high end decor but the same old seating arrangement & not even a proper washroom.
You can choose this restaurant if you are with family.
Their sambhar is awasome.
