I had the opportunity to visit St. joseph"s and Rev. Fr. Patrick who was in charge showed me around. The School is well equipped with a comprehensive Carpentry, welding and machine shop. The carpentry shop trains students in traditional carpentry with hand tools and also has a shop with machine woodworking tools. The students turn out excellent furniture and their joinery techniques are pretty good. I saw pieces made from Teakwood which were very impressive. They also make well designed speaker enclosures with crossover networks to give perfect frequency range. The welding shop is also well equipped to train students in soldering,Gas, Arc, and many other types of welding. The school helps mainly underprivileged youngsters, and Fr. Patrick is very proud of the achievements. He said that every graduate of the school have found excellent jobs and made great contribution to progress of industrial India.I wish St. Joseph's at Fingerpost Ooty, continued success, and may it turnout many more valuable and successful students. -Joe Fernando.
