Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Malappuram

Navodaya Vidyalaya System is a unique experiment unparalleled in the annals of school education in India and elsewhere. Its significance lies in the selection of talented rural children as the target group and the attempt to provide them with quality education comparable to the best in a residential school system. Such children are found in all sections of society, and in all areas including the most backward.

But, so far, good quality education has been available only to well-to-do sections of society, and the poor have been left out. It was felt that children with special talent or aptitude should be provided opportunities to proceed at a faster pace, by making good quality education available to them, irrespective of their capacity to pay for it.These talented children otherwise would have been deprived of quality modern education traditionally available only in the urban areas.

Such education would enable students from rural areas to compete with their urban counterparts on an equal footing. The National Policy on Education-1986 envisaged the setting up of residential schools, to be called Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas that would bring out the best of rural talent.

It is a nice school under govt. Of india .I wish to say that I lived there instead of I studied there.

You can join navodaya either at 6th standard or 9 th standard.At 9th standard there won't be much seats.The seats left vacant by students who joined at 6th standard and left thereafter are being filled at 9th standard.If you are home sick better sty away from the place

Good residential center gov school, good ambience. Outsiders and parents cars are not allowed inside. The cars can be parked at the vacant space at mainroad.

The campus, comprising of 13.71 acres of land . There are 9 houses - 5 boys houses and 4 girls houses for the strength of 248 boys and 250 girls total 498. The houses are in five separate blocks. The staff residences are situated near the houses to monitor the activities effectively for safety purpose of students.

The land of great poets and writers, political and religious leaders, Malappuram has carved a place of its own in the history of Kerala and hence its historical significance. The Kings of Valluvanad, the Zamorins, the kings of Perumpadappu Swarupam and the Kings of Vettathunadu, were the early rulers of historical Malappuram. The Portugese, Mysore Sultans and the Britishers, had their sway over this place,and has been indirectly instrumental in shaping the unique, social and cultural heritage of the historically important destination of Malappuram.
