My 3rd visit to Sahara Star and this time around visited Namak. Finally managed to get one thing of my bucket list of restaurants which I always wanted to visit. Located at Level 00 like most of the other restaurants at Sahara Star, Namak serves authentic Indian cuisine. Chic ambience, live kitchen, soothing music, lipsmacking food, prompt and courteous service; this sums up our experience at Namak. We preferred the Chef's recommended menu here since it is a three course meal, along with starters, main course and dessert.

We were welcomed with an inaugural drink - a refreshing mix of pineapple juice and mint leaves. Moving to the appetizers, it was a platter of 3 starters - Tandoori Malai Paneer Roll, Chenna Palak Ki Shami and Shimbi Paneer Ki Seekh. All three contain paneer but of all my absolute favourite is Chenna Palak Ki Shami. This Palak with cheese filling kebab literary melts in your mouth, the chef has done a fabulous job by preparing a veg version of this all time favourite kebab. Tandoori Malai Paneer Roll was also brilliant, again Paneer extremely soft and fresh marinated in pickling spices if onion and mint malai cheese grilled in tandoor to perfection. Shimbi Paneer Ki Seekh has a dominant mustard flavour with beans and paneer filing. Loved all the starters.

To go along with food - starters and mains, we called for couple of mocktails - Crimson Tide and Kala Khatta. Crimson Tide is something that I would definitely recommend of the two - Mango juice, orange slice, berry crush and plenty of ice. Refreshing mocktail. Now moving to the mains there were three vegetables Khade Masale Ke Paneer, Tripoliya Subzi and Sua Dakhni Saag which is Namak's version of Sarson Da Saag. Of the three I would say Tripoliya Subzi - mix veggies was the best, one of the best I have had in a long time. Signature dish at Namak and a must have at Namak. Sua Dakhni - spinach based veggie gives this amazing smokey taste, which I personally love. This is due to roasted garlic. Again a must try for those who like Sarson Da Saag.

All these veggies were accompanied with the Thikri Dal Makhani, creamy and super yummy! For breads we called for Zaffrani Paratha which is a layered paratha along with tonnes of Saffron in it. Loved this paratha as well, another must try! Post this we ended the mains with Tarkari Biryani served with Raita. Biryani was superb had layers of rice with veggies and spices. Finally moving to dessert we had the signature one Shaad-e-Jamun which is mini jamuna baked and layered with rabdi. A must try dessert, don't miss this for anything.

One of the most memorable experience, one of the most memorable evening, all thanks to Namak Sahara Star. Special thank you to the chef Karan Singh who prepared this delicious meal for us. Also our server Saeed, for being extremely courteous and helpful. A must visit, especially when celebrating any special occasions with your friends or family. Hope to come back here sooner than later!

Good ambience, good food and great service. They started witha welcome drink and some snacks/appetizers to munch on while we waited for our food. The appetizers were good and the welcome drink was awesome. The best part was that it was complementary. The dal makhani was great which is rare in Mumbai. The subz khada masala was okay and bharwan aloo was very good. Overall a good experience.

Would definitely recommend this place and would like to visit again🤞

Me and husband came to celebrate our special occasion (anniversary) what we receive is a mocktail with a insect stuck. Below is the proof of the same.

On the contrary when complained to the Restaurant manager - RAVI, his reply was “we have given you discount instead”

Whereas the fact was the discount was already a part of our billing prior booking at Namak restaurant.

Worst place to visit.
Recommend to never visit this place!

Kashmir is considered as Heaven on Earth that is incomplete without astonishing food. Kashmiri food is famous for saffron and their unique spices which take you to exquisite culinary joyride. Apart from mesmerizing scenic beauty you will get a feel of lip smacking delicacies in Kashmir. I straight away headed to Namak @hotel_saharastar to experience authentic food from the kitchen of Kashmir prepared by Chef Quyoom with utmost dedication and passion. Nothing overly cooked. I love the different blend of spices they used.
Located at ground floor this is a fine dine restaurant. Al e carte and set meal options are available to indulge in your choice of dishes. Saffron is the ingredient that used in the dishes to elevate the flavor.
Started with Kashmiri Kahawa Tea which was little sweet, easy to gulp down, almonds at bottom and floral too.
Paneer Zaffrani Tikka - Extremely succulent, melts in mouth Paneer marinated with spices, saffron, yogurt, roasted to the perfection.
Dhingri Stuffed Aloo - potatoes stuffed properly with nuts, fresh fruits, mushrooms and grilled nicely till it becomes golden brown.
Veg Shami Kebab - Made up from Lotus Stream and mashed vegetables. Melts in mouth immediately.
Main course was extremely rich and flavorsome embedded with saffron, spices. Paneer Kaliya was nicely sweet and spicy contrasted with famous Dum Aloo Kashmiri. I loved the gravy of latter. Tangy, sweet and spicy to gulp it down. Specially made up in Kashmiri Masala.
Haaq Saag - even though it's bitter I love that Mustard oil infused with Garlic. Very health dish. Everything taste excellent with Butter Parotha and Butter Kulcha.
Sabz Yakhani Biryani was a blast of Aroma. Middle section contains light gravy infused with spices along with raita.
In desserts I had dry fruit halwa, Firni, Seb ka Halwa, Chamcham and Mysoor Paak.
In mocktail I had Sunrise which was erupted by smoke and taste of cinnamon.
It was a spectacular meal. Service was excellent. I met a Chef Quyoom had amazing experience of travelling and cooking with different brands. Restaurant Manager Mr Ravi ensured there won't be any laps anywhere.
Truly I felt like I am on Star. Kudos to the entire team.

You can't just eat good food. You've got to talk about it too. The Dawat -E- Kashmir was one of my best food fest I have ever attended. This beautiful fest showcased the art, culture & culinary beauty of Kashmir in a divine way. Amazingly organised with vibrant ambience & decor the fest revealed the beauty of the northern mountains. We all are aware of the delectable Kasmiri food & I was lucky to taste this. To begin with we tasted the refreshing authentically made Kawa. My taste buds were activated awaiting the starters and the main course. The starters we had were Paneer Tikka & Shami Kabab . Tender & juicy the starters were prepared with rich spices of kashmir. They were simply scrumptious. The Biryani & the Dum Aloo which we preferred for our main course were authentic in taste & presentation. The Apple Pie for desserts reminded me of the juicy sweet Kashmiri apples. The food fest was an amazing experience to be treasured for a lifetime. It just took me to Kashmir. I am so glad I was a part of this fest. If you are a foodie & want to taste some really good delicious food do not miss this fest. It's going on till 23rd October. Go & be a part of Kashmir in it's art, culture & food. @hotel_saharastar

Sahara Star has yet another beautiful reason to draw crowds and this time it’s the Vibrant Zaika-E-Kashmir festival in the jaw dropping ritzy Namak Restaurant. The fest is currently on this month and shall be very much be around till the 23rd Oct 22. So in case you get tempted to visit pls do not delay. Simply reserve your table and visit as soon as u can.

First of all the vibe is very Kashmiri right from the Welcoming faces at the entrance and the authentic Shawl and jewellery stall to start with. Once we go in we feel the sniff of Kashmiri spices in the air. We started our meal with a cup of warm saffron and almond kaawa. It was so soothing and palate cleanser kinds. We were so ready for our meal after this.

Chef Quyoom who hails from Kashmir served us some of the homely local dishes of his region which are a rare treat for us. We started with some ;

- Paneer zaffrani tikkas. The marination and the quality of this dish is incomparable. Simply divine. So rich and so flavourful. A melt in the mouth texture.
- Dhingri stuffed aloo. Again a heart warming appetiser with mild spices and some good marinade made this chargrilled starter so good.
- Veg Shammi kebab. Tender kebabs which were so delicious and so mild with flavours but yet so delicious.
- Paneer kaliya. So this was a Maincourse curry which had a nice punch of saffron & fennel and it was a curd based gravy. Tasted mild and the slight flavour of the yogurt made it taste very different from regular curries.
- Dum aloo Kashmiri. This is a mandatory dish in this cuisine. And probably it’s the one I loved the most. A red curry again with some curd and spices. Was very flavourful.
- Haaq saag. So this was spinach like leaves which grow in the Kashmiri lakes and cooked with chillies and garlic in mustard oil. It had a very homely touch. We loved it.
- Dal. This was different from dal makhani. It was lighter and milder and tasted so good.
- Zaffrani kulfi, Phirni & seb Halwa. Kulfi and phirni were a super hit with us but what we loved at the first bite itself was the seb halwa. Optimum utilisation of the best fruit of Kashmir.

This Cuisine is so rich and heavy as it is meant to suit the demographic conditions of that area hence we found it so satisfying and this made us just go for an immediate siesta on finishing the last morsel. Such meals are exemplary and benchmark in our food journey hence I would definitely recommend promoting such festivals as much as I can as I really want the youth to try new cuisines which need to be explored and relished. Kashmir is heaven and the food there surely is meant for Attaining food coma. A must try fest and don’t forget it’s till 23rd this month.

Namak – This is one of the 5 restaurants inside Sahara Star and serves one of the most delicious North Indian cuisine. The place exudes royal vibes plus you are assured of extreme cautious measures thanks to Covid era. Each and every staff is extreme courteous and warm and greet every one like their own which is worth mentioning as not many 5 star places can replicate this.

I recently went there to experience their special menu on account them celebrating 91 years of Satyagraha. The dishes in general were prepared in a little unique style where in typically for any marination before cooking they added the hint of salt for taste post the entire marination. With this technique one tends to get not only a distinct taste of the delicious appetizer but also relative strong sense of salt on top of it without overpowering the dish with saltiness. It was very unique concept and very well executed.

From their special menu I specifically tried

Pathari Gulabi Namak Grilled Norweigan Tawa Salmon (Rating 5/5)
Sendav Namak and Pink Pepper Tandoori Prawns (Rating 5/5)
Hara Namak Marinated Chargrilled Chicken Drumstick (Rating 5/5)
Himalayan Namak Tandoori Chicken Thigh Tikka (Rating 5/5)

All the dishes had super sized individual portions to start off with. Taste wise I personally loved chicken tikka and salmon. Loved their unique take on marination which actually elevated the dish on another level. Chargrilling was perfect keeping moistness inside for all three chicken, prawns and salmon variety.

In mains we tried Ambade ka Murgh (Rating 5/5) with Himalyan Namak and spiced Lacha Paratha (Rating 5/5). It was to be honest one of the most delicious chicken curry I have had. Its hands down a must order out there.

For desserts, we kept light with Badam halwa, sweet ladoo and kaju katli which was just as homely as we make. I was satiated towards the end of the meal like always.

All in all, I love this place to fullest, and it remains my best restaurant in Sahara Star, I rate this place a 5.
