It is a library established in 1909. Earlier it had a hall where plays were staged. Long back in the early seventies I have watched a play in its small auditorium. I do not know whether it (auditorium) still exists.

One of the best library of North Kolkata.... It's located in Hatibagan, Gowabagan Area..... If you want to make a member you call in their mobile phones and told them about your membership... You can also participate in all of their educational events..... Visit here for more info..... If you search for some of traditional library... This traditional is here..... Hope you like my review

Its a heritage instiitute of 112 years, having a wide collection of books on different subjects. membership strength 1000plus.
open on mondays, wednesdays, thursdays and saturdays from 6pm to 8pm.
Good place for book lovers.

The basic intention of the library is to promote fellow feeling and brotherhood among its assorted readers, helping them to develop morally and intellectually. From the very beginning, the Boy’s Own Library & Young Men’s Institute is functioning as a non-communal and non-political organization, committed towards cultural inter-action and development of the library movement in West Bengal.

In course of 100 years of struggle in the field of education, culture and librry movement, the Boy's Own Library & Young Men's Institute, situated at 2 Boys Own Library Row, Kolkata : 700006 has emerged as a Primier Public Library of this metropolis. A total collection of nearby 45,000 books, together with more then 900 members along with different types of social activities reflect the antiquity and heritage of the library. Founded in 1909 by three school –going teenagers the primary aim of the library was to become a well – equipped institution welcoming readers of all cast creed and religion. The basic intention of the library is to promote fellow feeling and brotherhood among its assorted readers helping them to develop morally and intellectually – From the very beginning, the Boy's Own Library & Young Men's Institute is functioning as a non-communal and non-political organization, committed towards cultural inter-action and development of the library movement in West Bengal.
