Earlier this place was known as Gymkhana Ground. It was an open space. It is situated in the heart of the town. It has witnessed many Annual Football Championships. In the 1970s it was turned into a stadium with galleries for spectators. It hosted cricket matches. Then one after another two Basketball courts were made. As a result it ruined the Cricket ground's area and became dangerous for the boundary fielders. Even then it provides good space for cricket matches all round the year. It is in need of immediate repairs. It has a grass turf for cricket but it is usually destroyed for holding Public functions. This practice should be desisted.
