Walked 2 kms and guess what?! It was closed. It's no more a park. It used to be one but I guess over time it was neglected. The walk up to the park was serene though.

Botanical Garden is the most famous tourist destination in eranakulam .this garden, which is spread at an area of 22 hectares. This garden is located at a height of 240 metres above the sea level and has a collection of rare coloured lilies, flowering trees and shrubs.
There are many rare species of trees, one of which is 20 million year old fossil tree. It has earned the sobriquet monkey’s puzzle tree because monkeys cannot climb this tree. Furthermore, there is an Italian style garden which has a huge variety of flowers, bushes and plants. The garden, which also has a clear pool and a fern house, is popular among students specialising in botany.
The Horticulture Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu looks after the maintenance of this garden. This garden features variegated range of roses and imported shrubs. Todas or the tribes of Nilgiri, which is known for its unique culture and traditional values, inhabit the eastern hill of this garden.
Botanical Garden is famous for its ‘Summer Festivals’, which is held every year in the month of May. In the third weekend of May, a flower show and exhibition on plants is organised in this garden

Not worth visiting in summer, well maintained...........An delightful walk through the old olive groves with a wide range of plants................. Until and unless you’re planning to camp here, the park doesn’t have much to offer in summer........... In all other seasons, the park would beautiful.......

The Botanical park Nedumbassery(Swuvarnodhyanam) is owned and operated by Kerala State Forest Department. It is situated near by Cochin International Airport , Golf Club, Golf view Hotels and Resorts.It is very calm and quite area. It give a forest atmosphere just near inter national airport. CIAL need land at Thattekad for construction of their signal Tower.At the time forest department give land for this purpose and CIALgive this land instead of thattekad land to Forest department. Forest department create a mini forest by using this land. It is very enjoyable place for children as well as elder. You can very easily reach from Athani junction or Kariyard junction.
