This is one among the eight relic stupas built over the corporeal remains of Buddha. The remains were distributed among eight claimants, one being the Lichchavis of Vaishali. Inner most stupa of smaller dimension, measuring 8.07 m. in diameter is assignable to circa fifth Century B.C. During the rule of the Mauryans and later under Sungas and Kushanas the stupa was successively enlarged by brick encasing and by raising the plinth and height of the structure. The excavation have yielded a number of antiquities among which the relic casket containing ashes mixed with earth, a punch marked coin, some beads and gold objects are the most remarkable discovery.

It's a wonderful place. The numbers of total Buddh Relic Stup is 8. This is one of them. Relic Stup refers to the mortal remains of Lord Buddha. Foreigners come every year to see this place. This is a holy place .

Good place but small children begging for money. It would be good if big trees are there on either side of pathway

This is one of the eight place where the initial Lord Buddha relics were distributed. There is no relics but a remain of the place where it was unearthed.

Also, nearby is a Musuem which should not be missed.

Vishwa Shanti Stupa (English: World Peace Stupa; in Wardha district, Maharashtra, near Gitai Mandir, is a large stupa of white color. Statues of the Buddha are mounted on stupa in four directions. It also has a small Japanese Buddhist temple with a large park. There is a temple near the stupa where prayers are done for universal peace. The initial pagoda reached completion in 1969. New initiatives in 1993 [1] resulted in the present form. It is one of around 80 Peace Pagodas which have been built around the world by the neo-Buddhist organisation Nipponzan Myohoji.[2] These were a dream of Fujii Nichidatsu, inspired by Mohandas K. Gandhi, as a reaction to the atomic bombing of Japan, the first, and more well known Vishwa Shanti stupa, being built on Ratnagiri Hill in Rajgir.[3]A
