The person at ticket counter will surely try his best to cheat you. If you give higher currency then while returning you change he will drop the big amount note and give you folded notes so you cannot check again and keep as it is.
Be Alert and count money again before keeping.

The fact stated by Shri Nitin Agarwal is true. I have experienced the same incident at ticket counter. The person making ticket is a cheat regarding handling money.
