A must visit place if you are visiting Jhansi. It is maintained very well. From the top of the Fort you could have a grand stand view of the entire city. The spot from where the Maharani of Jhansi jumped from the Fort on her horse back with her adopted son to escape the enemy is marked with a board. She is said to have escaped to Gwalior after jumping. She is one of a kind absolutely bold and was very well loved by her subjects. She has found a niche for herself in the Indian History. You could also see the entrance that leads to an under ground escape route to Gwalior Fort from this Fort. You could also see the court place and also the "Hanging" place of convicts who were handed down death penalty.
This is first historical place I have seen, which has Braille metal sheet for the visually challenged persons to read and know about the Fort. It is kept at an advantage point as you enter the inside of the Fort

Jhansi fort has its own unique historical importance as it is linked to Rani Laxmibai, who was among one of the first freedom fighters. Although Jhansi fort is not very big or beautiful as Agra fort. But it's a must visit. Also do try to attend the light and sound show held in evening. It's very good and informative. It has voices of some of the big actors like Om Puri & Sushmita Sen.
