Lovely little museum in a quiet residential area, private collection by a very well spoken gentleman that will be happy to explain the origins to you. The displays are super well designed and fascinating to see. My grandfather loved seeing all the old vessels and cooking implements. My favorite part was the display of the utensils on the rise of the stairs! Would visit again

My experience at YK Antiques Home Museum has been thoroughly enriching. It is a house of treasures filled with antiques. When first visited I was deeply moved to see the vast storehouse of ancient antique collection. It is a house of knowledge that makes us aware of the history, lifestyle and art.
Krishnamurthy sir, who is a personal collector and owns the museum is such a inspiring person and his stories give us behind-the-scenes look into childhood which is so interesting.
I would truly recommend trying out the museum if you are interested in antique artefacts from our past.
Definitely it leaves a lingering impression on our mind.

Hiding in one of the many quiet colonies of Secunderabad, YK Antiques is a gem of a place for people of all ages. Mr. YK Murthy, the curator of this place, has turned his home into a museum with such dedication, interest and care, that it shows from the second you step foot inside. It's a whole new world!

My family and I spent about 2 hours in the evening and still fell short of time with so many more stories to hear about all the different collections. There were items ranging from as small as spoons to as big as full-fledged furniture that easily go back 200 years!

Every antique inside, projected 3 main aspects of all creations of the time - Utility, Durability & Beauty, even in something as small as an Agarbatti stand.

More importantly, a visit to this place, (irrespective of whether or not history and culture interest you) will leave you with an inspiration to be more mindful about what and how you consume; and also with a deep appreciation for Indian culture and the ideology of our ancestors who found ways to incorporate the goodness of the Earth elements into their daily life through utensils designed specifically for different kinds of food. You'll learn a lot in one visit!

My favorite corner of the museum was a mini Threshold curtain-decoration made of rice husk stitched beautifully for a door that was put together with block designs on wood.

Highly recommend YK Antiques for your next outing!! Do not miss this one.

An amazing museum to visit. Thankyou so much for your time and space Mr YK sir the visit enhanced our learning journey and also our DRSIS PYP 1 learner’s reflected upon their understanding. The field trip turned out to be a great understanding for how the transformation happens from time to time, the ways people adapt change and know about different things people used in olden times. Keep up with the good work I appreciate your interest.. 👍🏻👍🏻

Had met Mr YK Murthy at his home museum last weekend, extraordinary man who at the age of 80, still has the zeal and passion of collecting antiques. Most of his collections are sourced from known families directly and many other from his travels around the country, Every piece has an intriguing tale, beautifully described about its origin and its uses. His hospitality and his love for story telling is commendable. Living in the city for all these years, had no idea he lives close by in lothkunta, do drop him a visit.

This Museum stands as the pride of India after the Vechaar Museum of Ahmedabad. Sir Y K Murthy felt these antiques had stories to tell for generations to come. Stories on how their ancestors lived, how they cooked, and how they fed their families. Out of this compassion to preserve those wonderful storytelling artifacts. He began collecting such vessels one by one for years.

When I visited him for the first time and was leaving, he said you can stay as long as you like, there is help to prepare food for you. I felt like one of the family here because that was such a warm and welcoming feeling.

I strongly recommend this place and talk to Sir, experience of history is what really matters for a bigger change in all forms.

This is my second visit to the home museum. I came across this beautiful place through a friend. The moment I entered the house I was just awestruck looking at each and every wall filled with beautiful antiques. The most exciting part of my visit was hearing to the stories of each antique from the collector himself, Mr. YK. He is 81 years old but his energy is amazing. The stories shared by Mr YK brings life to the space and one can find a lot of positivity when they are surrounded with these antiques. It's such a beautiful space, I recommend everyone to visit the home museum and get to know more about our history, tradition and culture.

My first home museum visit:

It was a juncture when I was wrapped with negativity of life and happened to meet a friend who then introduced me to this amazing world of antiques and the lead man behind the antiques who we all fondly call YK sir. It was in one his exhibition when I first met him and listened to his stories on his collection of brass, copper and silver generation old antique items from different countries all over the world. I remember he told me, “Here all the items you see and touch will tell you unique stories” that made me teleport to a different world totally within a fraction of seconds. Yes, I felt the power of positivity from this old man who is very young at heart, mind and soul.
My second visit to his home drew me more towards him and his energy. His love for each item, the warmth in the house, the walls so beautifully decorated with his collections, even his little green porch has so much peace that mesmerized me.
There is so much to learn about life from him. His passion is something that keeps the place brimming with warmth just like his filter coffee made in brass filter coffee maker and served in brass glasses. The traditional authentic one.
I highly recommend this place to those who loves tradition, who has passion, who loves to hear stories, who loves art and who loves life to visit and imbibe the energy and get enriched.
It’s a must visit when you are in Hyderabad- the city of Nizams.
