Vellore Govt Museum. Looks like more of a non thought out effort with a limited resource. Very shabily maintained. Looks like very casual approch to the exhibits without any co relation to one another.

Some of the exhibits could be a treasure of value and knowledge, displaying which needs some better efforts from the curator.

Good place but more awareness should be created for this place. They should have some more interesting and informative things. Overall good place for all to know about our history

When you are in Vellore, this government museum is a must visit place as this is adjacent to Vellore Fort. There is charge of Rs.50 for car parking and separate nominal charge for entrance and also for using your mobile to take photo/video.
It is comparitively a small museum but has some good collection about various stone sculptures across different era of TamilNadu.
The place has a huge banyan tree 🌳 which gives enough shade and reprive from the scorching Vellore heat.
Nice spot for photo taking to record evergreen memories of your visit to this spot...
Highlight of this place is the old tamil brahmi inscriptions on stone and its translations kept here and also the diagram representing how to differentiate between stone statues of Chola, Pallava and other empires who ruled this region...
Good place to visit with your kids and family...

It's just a museum of ancient rocks made into idols and inscriptions. Some are from the early 8th century to the 19th century.

Good place of reference for the history lovers but I was expecting a bigger collection of antique pieces with detailed information about them but unfortunately, their history is not elaborated.

Best to visit for history enthusiasts. You can only get general idea about the artifacts; little deep history inputs near sculpture would have made it better. They charge ₹5/person and ₹20/camera. You can cover in 30 mins. Located near fort. Parking is available free of charge.

Educative museum. Worth visiting with your family, children and with friends. Anthropology gallery, bronze gallery, south and north Indian coins, glazed potteries of karigiri, many stone sculptures, ancient musical instruments, swords,Jain era bronzes etc are exhibited here. Kindly visit. Visiting hours morning 10 to evening 5 pm. All staff and curator Mr.K.Saravanan are very kind and helpful. The awful thing is worst toilet. No water facility to toilet and it is not clean also. Tamilnadu government and concerned officers should take care.

State museum though minimal, appears well kept. No sale counters at the museum. Several signposts leading to the museum. The Old Mosque is situated just outside the entrance to the museum.
Very minimal charges. ₹5 for adults and ₹3 for children
Well maintained area.
