What a lovely place. John Sullivan is technically the father of modern Nilgiris. Go here to understand the stories of different tribal groups such as Irulas, Kotas, Badagas, Kurumbas and Todas. The Nawa ( Nilgiris Adivashi Welfare Association) has contributed a lot to this place. If you are in Kotagiri do visit this place. The staff are also very friendly and have immense local knowledge!

The history if Nilagirs

John Sullivan Memorial shows the life of John Sullivan, and the timeline of development of Ooty and its surrounding areas. It is a very small monument, but has rich information about the history of Nilgiris.
Situated few kilometers away from Kotagiri hill station of Tamilnadu.
Worth visit.. recomended

Very good initiative to restore the first building of the modern Nigiris. Staff was very friendly and politely explained the history. they have books and research materials of tribal community for sale.
Downside is the amount of artifacts in the museum, it's very few and mostly the pictures.

Nice old renovated place , a good place to know the history of Nilgiris and how people invaded the beautiful mountains. This place also sells hand knitted wool accessories made by tribal association. The quality is very good and in trend. Very very cheaper and authentic compared to shops in cities.

The employee has very good knowledge . A must visit place.
