In Kapletta, right opposite the remnants of a Jain temple that dates to 7th century , is a single-storied museum which was where Mahatma Gandhi sojourned during his 1934 visit to Wayanad. In here if you pick up the receiver of a telephone hooked onto the wall, you can hear his recorded voice, a portal into the past. The room where he stayed is humble with a straw mat on the floor and the passage from here leads to a room containing an array of photographs spanning from his childhood to his assassination.
Gandhi Memorial Museum and Library situated in Puliyarmala, about 4 km from Kalpetta town-center.Ananthapuram, near Kalpetta, Wayanad. Mahatma Gandhi took rest at a boarding near the Jain Temple; that boarding is today the Gandhi Memorial Museum and Library.

Gandhiji visited Malabar again to raise funds for the downtrodden. And it was here that a little girl called Kaumudi walked boldly to the stage after Gandhiji's speech and removed all her ornaments and gifted them to the Mahatma. The little girl also took a pledge not to wear gold there on. Gandhiji was so impressed by this that he wrote about her under the title 'Kaumudi Ka Tyag' in the Harijan Magazine.
