The museum has been renovated and has got a facelift. Artefacts are well kept and the building in which the museum is housed itself is pre-independence. The items held are mostly stone carvings from various parts of Kerala during the time it was under various Kings.

Along with the museum is an Art Gallery and Krushna Menon Museum. Due to renovation works going on the art gallery wasn't fully functional.

The park outside the museum is a real good place to spend the evening with children

The museum is located in the East Hill locality of Kozhikode. It has the largest collection of Hero Stones after the museum in Egmore, Chennai. The staff are very helpful and photograpy and videography is allowed. The maintenance of the premises is excellent and it's worth spending about 2 hours to know about the region of Calicut. The lower portion of the building used to be a dungeon/ jail. The museum describes the development of the region of Calicut into the superpower city during the medieval times. Apart from the trading viewpoint, the development of script, temple art and architecture and daily life of the people in general is also displayed and covered sufficiently. Kudos to the ASI for the work they are doing.

The museum has exhibits from the megalithic age and the Indus Valley civilization. The exhibits include ancient pottery, toys, stone and other metal sculptures. Coins, Models of temples, Burial urns and umbrella stones (tomb stones of rulers) are part of the museums's collection. The museum also has a collection of war weapons used by British soldiers and the official caps of British and French soldiers.

The special collections of the museum include the Panchaloha idols and stone statues described as ‘War heroes'.
The building that houses the museum was constructed in the year 1812 and was then known as East Hill Bungalow. The bungalow was converted to an archaeological museum in 1976. In the year 1980, the building was renamed as the Pazhassi Raja Archaeological Museum.

Pazashi Raja museum is an old museum situated in East hill kozhikode. The building architecture reminds of British era. There is lawn surrounding buildings. Museum articles are less, but there is only a minimal fees for entering the museum , entering to surroundings are free. There is children park inside, for below 10 years.

Built by British. It's not a palace but cellar. Everything collected from different parts of Kerala are collated and displayed to public.

Good atmosphere for family. 3d theatre was not working. Good parking space. I strongly recommend only for family and groups😁
